Abstract

This chapter is my interpretation of Adele's "Someone Like You," a Grammy-winning song inspired by Adele's bittersweet heartbreak and her devastating attachment to her former ex. Filmed in Paris, France, the city of Love, this interpretation uses Adele as a model to describe the need for closure and intimacy in traditional relationships, while emphasizing how obliviousness to non-verbal cues leads to unreciprocated connections and emotional regret that linger on "what-if" scenarios. At the same time, the song explores the importance of value through passion projects, inspiring other content creators to confront past struggles and move beyond emotional attachment in relationships.

Abstract

This chapter is my interpretation of ILLENIUM's Nightlight, which reflects themes of the sublime through its setting and emotional vulnerability, where the music video's character experiences internal struggle and mental looping cycles throughout her journey across a rough landscape. The elements in the music video symbolize protection, ego shields, and movement beyond comfort zones, representing recovery from a sense of dependency and limerent obstacles along the path.
