The Democratic Party: From Kennedy to Today
In this episode of Mining the Media, G.K. opens with his talking points and makes an observation that unknowingly sets the stage perfectly for Dave's Crusty's Corner.
G.K. argues that if common sense prevailed across America, we would recognize that most Americans are somewhere near the political center—between the 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock positions. Most Americans love their families, value their faith, and love their country. Yet it is often the voices on the extreme left and right that seem to dominate our political landscape.
Dave picks up that theme in Crusty's Corner with "The Democratic Party: From Kennedy to Today." Looking culturally, historically, and biblically at the Democratic Party from the generation of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy to the present, Dave explains that politics does not shape culture nearly as much as underlying worldviews shape both culture and politics.
Once objective truth is rejected and people begin determining truth for themselves, everything downstream eventually moves with it. Political parties change. Platforms change. Coalitions change. Cultures change. But God's truth does not.
As Dave reminds listeners, Christians should never evaluate Scripture through politics. We must evaluate politics—and every other worldview—through the unchanging truth of God's Word.
