This weeks breakdown of our experience watching the new 2026 film Primetime.

We get into our expectations going in, our immediate reactions, and the conversations the movie sparked once the credits rolled. From the rise of To Catch a Predator and Chris Hansen becoming a cultural figure to the blurred line between journalism, entertainment, justice, and exploitation, Primetime gave us plenty to unpack.

We discuss Robert Pattinson’s portrayal, the film’s approach to the world behind the cameras, and how differently we view this kind of television now compared to when we originally watched it.

Was To Catch a Predator legitimate investigative journalism—or did catching predators eventually become must-see entertainment? And what does that say about the people making it, the people participating in it, and the millions of us watching at home?

  • 130. The 80%
    2026/09/13

After a long hiatus, we’re back with some solo video episodes.

This episode is a reflection on the mishaps and onslaught of technical difficulties that come with creating. Performing after the setup, finding the ability to lock in, and learning to live within a space of honesty and authenticity. The confidence—and teamwork—it takes to turn all of that into a publishable product.

A reflection on 2025 and beyond.

Remember the Pareto Principle: 80% of what you try might miss, while 20% really hits—and that 20% can produce most of your results.

Then there’s alchemy: the ancient idea of transformation, most famously represented by the pursuit of turning base metals like lead into gold.

But maybe the real alchemy is what we do with our experiences:

    Failure → experience
    Pain → art
    Mistakes → wisdom
    Raw talent → mastery
An overlooked idea → a successful business
Ordinary experiences → compelling podcast material

Sometimes the misses are part of the process. Sometimes you have to learn how to turn the lead into gold.

  • 129. Ye in Chicago, THE GREATEST NIGHT IN HIP HOP HISTORY
    2026/09/05

    LIVE FROM CHICAGO.

70,000 people. Soldier Field. Lightning striking over Lake Michigan. Lights shooting toward God. And the world literally spinning underneath Ye.

Hatch was there for a night that felt less like a concert and more like witnessing a piece of hip-hop history in real time.

Lupe Fiasco. Big Sean. Chief Keef. 2 Chainz. Rick Ross. CyHi The Prynce. Common. Consequence. Chicago became the center of the hip-hop universe as generations of artists came together around one of the most influential—and complicated—figures the genre has ever produced.

But what happens when someone spends their entire life attempting perfection? We talk about Ye's constant pursuit of self-improvement, reinvention and the idea of turning your flaws, failures and experiences into something greater—the concept of alchemy.

We also get into the responsibility that comes with having a congregation. Eventually, every creator, leader or public figure reaches the moment when it's time to sell something, say something or ask their audience to follow them somewhere. What you do in that moment can strengthen everything you've built—or destroy it.

Free Durk. Free Larry Hoover. Welcome home Young Thug.

And finally, we zoom all the way out and look at the timeline of hip-hop itself: the generations, the evolution, the legends and where a night like this belongs within that history.

    Maybe it was a concert.

    Maybe it was a homecoming.

Maybe we just witnessed THE GREATEST NIGHT IN HIP HOP HISTORY.
