I picked joy as my word for 2024, in part because I don't automatically remember to inhabit joy in my daily life. In exploring what it would be like to consciously add the notes of joy to my daily life, I discovered the medicine of dandelion. Dandelion invites us to experience joy by shedding the gunk we accumulate over a lifetime and being free to be our silly, joyful, luminous selves.

In this episode, I share wisdom I received from a ceanothus plant. That wisdom led me to explore the ancient Roman Saturnalia festival, which took place around the time of the winter solstice. The wisdom of ceanothus encourages us to embrace some aspects of Saturnalia. It encourages us to set aside our daily obligations for a bit, to find space to connect with our dreams, and to allow those dreams to take root and grow as the light of the new year approaches.
