On November 24, 1971, a man carrying a briefcase walked onto a Northwest Orient Airlines flight in Portland, Oregon.

He gave the flight attendant a note.

Then he quietly revealed a bomb.

The man called himself Dan Cooper and demanded $200,000 in ransom, four parachutes, and a flight to Mexico.

What happened next would become one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history.

After the plane landed in Seattle and the passengers were released, Cooper remained on board with the crew. Then, somewhere between Seattle and Reno, in the darkness of a stormy November night, he opened the rear stairs of the Boeing 727...

and jumped.

He disappeared into the night with the ransom money.

No confirmed body was ever found.

No definitive identity was ever established.

And despite one of the largest investigations in FBI history, no one has ever conclusively determined what happened to the hijacker after that jump.
