    What does it mean to create a home where learning from the plants becomes part of everyday life?


    In the first episode of the Curandera Podcast, Charles Johnston and Tatiana Aya Tupinambá introduce the forest home and center they are developing in Brazil’s Atlantic rainforest. Tatiana shares why she wanted a place that combines immersion in nature with comfort, stability, and time to learn beyond a weekend retreat.


    Reflecting on her years studying with Maestro Juan Flores, she describes her vision for plant dietas, quiet reflection, and longer periods of learning. The conversation moves from life in the garden and the relationship between soil and food to the old jequitibá tree nearby, professional support, and opportunities to learn alongside Indigenous teachers and elders.


    At its heart, this opening conversation is about the relationship between the medicine and the way we live—how we eat, spend our time, care for our surroundings, and become examples for one another.
