  • Interesting Insects with Anne McRae
    2024/02/25

Bugs, bugs and MORE bugs! The insect space is one that I do not claim to be an expert in. If anything, it's one area that I need to spend more time learning about. Knowing that there are experts out there, like Anne McRae with BASF, I was able to spend some time learning from her. Anne brings a vast amount of knowledge to this space given her experience over many different growing seasons and working with many different crops. Ever wonder how long it takes to get a new product to market? Are you currently using insecticides on your farm, but wonder what best use practices to follow? Tune in to this episode to gain insights into these topics and more with Anne!

  • Welcome to The Crop Corner & Sweet Corn Production with Elaine Roddy
    2023/06/07

    Welcome to The Crop Corner!

How did The Crop Corner come about you ask? Well, being a part of the Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) Mentorship program, I wanted to structure my mentorship project around enhancing resources and knowledge for CCAs and other industry members that work with fruit and vegetable production. Given the widespread horticulture growing region across Ontario, I felt that a podcast would be a convenient platform to share this information across.

In this episode I chat with Elaine Roddy, Vegetable Crop Specialist with OMAFRA about Sweet Corn production. Elaine brings a wealth of knowledge with her when it comes to sweet corn production. In my conversation with Elaine, we discuss variety selection, pest management and crop management techniques as compared to field and sweet corn.
