While beloved former producer Butch did cover the Hinterkaifeck murders in his only appearance presenting a story way back in episode 21, Matt has long been fascinated by the case and wanted to revisit it with fresh eyes and more details.
The Hinterkaifeck murders were the brutal, unsolved killings of six people on a remote Bavarian farmstead in 1922. The victims included all five members of the Gruber family and their new maid.
Ben also puts on his sleuthing hat and attempts to solve the mysterious case by looking at some infamous mass murders who were active in Germany at the time.
