Welcome to another episode of The Cricket Slouch, a cricket podcast that doesn’t shy away from hard-hitting discussions and isn’t afraid to call out double standards within the sport irrespective of where it occurs.

This episode is brought by Sandeep, Ajit and Shounak, who do not hold back in discussing the unexpected non-participation of Bangladesh in the men’s T20 World Cup, and they delve deep into the political undertones influencing this decision, including religious tensions and retaliatory demands from political groups. While examining the economic impact on Bangladesh cricket, the discussion reflects on the broader ramifications for future international cricket events. Through thoughtful reflection, the trio sheds light on how underlying political currents can potentially shift the landscape of international sport and cricketing governance.

They also take time to discuss whether there have been double standards exercised by the ICC in dealing with this, especially when there have been previous such precedents.

Scotland’s inclusion is debated, whether it was the right call or could another team from the Asian region could have played instead, and then then the discussion moves on to talk about the 6 full member nations that are yet to win a T20 world cup and what are their potential chances this time. Can anyone beat India this time around on their own turf ?

    Enjoy !

  • The one after the Conclusion of the Ashes 25-26
    2026/01/12

Greetings all and welcome to another episode of The Cricket Slouch.

In this episode, Sandeep and Shounak are joined by James for a nuanced and balanced perspective about the Sydney test, and the Ashes series in general, and whether this was a win for England in any way.

The conclusion was that England couldn't bat, bowl or catch this series and the Aussies were only marginally better in what was supposed to be cricket's marquee event.

The discussion then weaves around future prospects for both teams, potential retirements, and replacements for them, before they touch base on the upcoming u-19 World Cup in Namibia and Zimbabwe.

    Thank you for listening.

  • The One where England finally win at the MCG, Ashes 2025
    2026/01/02

Hello and welcome all to The Cricket Slouch.

In the very first episode of 2026, Sandeep and Shounak cover the triumphant return of Bazball in a surprise 2-day win over Australia at the hallowed MCG.

Whether Australia played poorly or England played less poorly is a matter of debate and discussed well by our panel of two. They analyse how a seamer-friendly pitch in Melbourne affected gameplay, leading to mistakes over mastery. The discussion explores modern batting mindsets where attack seemed to trump patience. England and Australia both struggled due to seam movement and wobble seam deliveries compounded the difficulty, leading to unremarkable innings by many with lacklustre batting techniques and poor shot selection and some dubious approaches to batting.

Prospects for the Sydney test were discussed before prayers were said for Damien Martyn, who's currently in hospital.

    Enjoy the chatter!

  • The One After the Ashes Series was Decided

Hello and welcome everyone to another episode of The Cricket Slouch, fresh off the press after the decisive final day of the 3rd Ashes test.

If you have been following the series, you know by now that Australia have retained the Ashes with a comfortable win. at Adelaide. We talk about England's late fight, an ability to actually compete, albeit a little too late now, and despite Eng having a decent team, the result is back within familiar territory.

Australia have a few selection dilemmas now with injuries to Lyon and Cummins and what kind of opposition they will face in Melbourne, especially as England do not have time to take a beachside break.

We also briefly touch upon the WI-NZ 3rd test match and while the pitch is really flat and docile, a draw here would mean the world to the West Indies !

Sit back and enjoy listening to our views and thank you for supporting us.

  • The One about the Two Tests Across the Tasman Sea - Ashes and Wi-NZ

Hello and welcome everyone to another episode, in which we look back at the two tests across the Tasman Sea, the WI-NZ test match and the 2nd Ashes test match.

I am joined by the usual triumvirate of Sandeep, Ajit and Shounak and we discuss how well Windies managed to save the game, albeit NZ were a couple of players short in the 4th innings. And then we absolutely thrash the lame excuses Eng has made after this loss, look at how they have continued to perpetuate their weaknesses when Australia appears to have put in a better performance.

Finally, we also pay our respects to Robin Smith, a legend of the game from the late 980s to mid 1990s, the purveyor of a great cut shot. May he rest in peace.

  • The one with the Twin Thrashings for England and India

Hello and welcome everyone to another episode of The Cricket Slouch.

In today’s episode we shall try and dissect the heavy thrashings suffered by England and India in their respective test matches, and to help unpack the pain and trauma, I am joined by Sandeep and Shounak.

We try to make sense of what happened in the blink of an eye at Perth, and then the shock of India's abject capitulation vs South Africa at Guwahati en route to another series loss at home within 13 months.

Finally we celebrate the 100-test career of Mushfiqur Rahim and what a magnificent servant he has been for Bangladesh cricket.

This time we refrain from making any bold predictions about the next Ashes match, having been thoroughly humbled by the outcome of the Ind-SA series.

So, sit back and enjoy the discussion !
