Hello and welcome to The Cricket Slouch.

In this episode SP and Sandeep are joined by Manju, a debutant guest and honoured cricket fan, to pay our respects to the departed Shapoor Zadran.

We then discuss the Women's T20 WC final, India's mixed fortunes in England across the men's and women's sides, the prospect of the women's team winning their maiden test at Lords, the final WI-SL test match, Zimbabwe's wins over Bangladesh, and a few other developments.

As per tradition we discuss controversial issues and this time it is the ICC asking ECB for an explanation around how an audio-video recording device was allowed inside the dressing room during the course of a match.

Relax and enjoy the banter !

In this episode Shounak and SP talk about the recently concluded test matches between India-Afghanistan and England-New Zealand, focusing on some notable performances, off-field shenanigans and an unnecessary detour into T20 franchise territory before rounding up with news from the ongoing ACC Women’s Premier Cup in Malaysia.

We also tease some exciting things to happen for the podcast in the near future and might make an announcement about that at some stage.

Welcome to another episode of The Cricket Slouch, a cricket podcast that doesn’t shy away from hard-hitting discussions and isn’t afraid to call out double standards within the sport irrespective of where it occurs.

This episode is brought by Sandeep, Ajit and Shounak, who do not hold back in discussing the unexpected non-participation of Bangladesh in the men’s T20 World Cup, and they delve deep into the political undertones influencing this decision, including religious tensions and retaliatory demands from political groups. While examining the economic impact on Bangladesh cricket, the discussion reflects on the broader ramifications for future international cricket events. Through thoughtful reflection, the trio sheds light on how underlying political currents can potentially shift the landscape of international sport and cricketing governance.

They also take time to discuss whether there have been double standards exercised by the ICC in dealing with this, especially when there have been previous such precedents.

Scotland’s inclusion is debated, whether it was the right call or could another team from the Asian region could have played instead, and then then the discussion moves on to talk about the 6 full member nations that are yet to win a T20 world cup and what are their potential chances this time. Can anyone beat India this time around on their own turf ?

    Enjoy !
