The Commentary Track was never intended to be a podcast.
What began as source material for a pair of behind-the-scenes videos eventually grew into a series of conversations exploring the making of independent micro-budget films in West Tennessee. Here’s how a filmmaking process accidentally produced a podcast.
While creating behind-the-scenes videos for Prayer Requests 3 and Without This Ring, R. Alan Ingalls sat down with writer/director Daniel Hooper to record a pair of conversations, hoping to pull a few useful soundbites for the final edits.
What followed was the realization that these discussions deserved to exist in their entirety. Inspired less by podcasting and more by the commentary tracks traditionally found on DVDs, The Commentary Track became a growing archive of stories, lessons, challenges, and reflections from the people behind the films.
