Most people would willingly volunteer to help someone who is temporarily misplaced by having their home destroyed in a storm. But when someone is homeless a result of abusive relationships, financial hardship, addiction, or mental health disorders, many are not willing to help. Jeff and Nancy discuss how homelessness and poverty, like a natural disaster, are dire emergencies that require help from our entire community. They also go over a tonal shift at "Feed My Sheep" regarding how we approach long-term aid for individuals.

If a homeless friend suffering from a drug addiction asks you for $20 to make it through the week, will your $20 fully address their needs?

The truth is that a financial contribution is only a small part of the help they need. An effort to help members of our community should be unselfish and Christlike. Jeff and Nancy, along with a new guest, Chris, share their interpretations of John 21:17, the core principle of Feed My Sheep, and how we can implement it into service of people below the poverty line.
