- Debra Fitzgerald was 54 years old and had run Fitzgerald Dry Goods for 22 years.
- Diane Harrison, a county surveyor, found Fitzgerald's body roughly 40 yards from Mercer Road.
- A clean, upright dry glass plate was found on the limestone shelf directly above the body and was free of red clay dust present elsewhere.
- Kenneth Weber was 39, a traveling photographer who filed vendor permits in Tate County from 1929-1931, with the 1929 permit naming Baines Crossing and the 1931 permit naming Fitzgerald Dry Goods.
- Clara Voss, 56, died in August 1929 on the outskirts of Baines Crossing with a piece of broken glass found near her body; Weber's 1929 permit listed Baines Crossing.
