  • Are People With Chronic Pain Simply Just Malingering?!
    2026/09/02

When “neuroplastic pain” becomes the explanation for every chronic condition, an approach intended to reduce fear can become another way to blame the patient.

For years, people with chronic pain and chronic illness were told their symptoms were “all in their head.” But has the pain industry simply repackaged that same message using terms like neuroplastic pain, nervous system dysregulation, and Pain Reprocessing Therapy?

In this episode, I’m joined by licensed professional counselor Destiny Davis, The Chronic Illness Therapist. Destiny specializes in chronic pain and chronic illness, trains other healthcare providers, and brings her own lived experience with chronic pain to this conversation.

We talk about why patients are still forced to prove they’re sick before they can receive care, why it can take years—or even decades—to receive an accurate diagnosis, and why so many qualified providers are choosing to work outside the traditional insurance model.

Then we take an honest look at Pain Reprocessing Therapy: what PRT actually is, what the research does and does not show, and what happens when findings from one specific group of people with chronic low back pain get applied to fibromyalgia, CRPS, EDS, long COVID, and nearly every other chronic pain condition.

  • The Internet is Selling a Misleading Version of Pain Neuroscience - 3 Things Recovery Actually Needs
    2026/08/06

"Nervous system dysregulation" doesn't explain your chronic pain — and neither does your MRI. There's a neurologic piece both sides keep missing.

Ready to address it? Apply to The Uprising: Complex Pain Academy → https://www.alissawolfe.com/program-application

The pain relief industry keeps handing you one oversimplified explanation after another. First it's structural: the disc bulge, the posture, the weak muscles. Then the pendulum swings and it's all in the brain: your thoughts, your trauma, your vagus nerve, your dysregulated nervous system.

Both sides hold a piece of the truth but neither explains why the same walk feels fine one day and unbearable the next, why symptoms show up hours later, why light touch burns, or why pain persists long after tissues have healed.

This video breaks down what actually sits between your body and your conscious mind: an adaptive neurologic signaling system that can become sensitized — turning up the volume on ordinary signals.

This is neurologic sensitivity, and it exists on a spectrum, which is why two people with the same diagnosis (fibromyalgia, CRPS, chronic back pain) can have completely different experiences.

You'll learn the three jobs a complete recovery process has to accomplish, and the five progressive phases I use to sequence them — so you stop throwing spaghetti at the wall and start leading your own recovery.

  • Natasha's CRPS Recovery Story - Now Walking 10,000 Steps Without A Spinal Cord Stimulator
    2026/02/06

In this conversation, Natasha, a nurse and CrossFit athlete, shares her personal recovery journey with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).

She was once unable to walk or even wear a sock, was faced with disability, and was recommended pain management specialists and spinal cord stimulators.

But now, she's back to working full-time, reporting 80-90% recovery after implementing some simple strategies.

If you've been told your only options are ketamine infusions, nerve ablations, or a spinal cord stimulator, this interview will show you what's possible with a neurologic approach to CRPS treatment.
