A clean glass casserole dish decorated with blue cornflower decals sat on a sandstone shelf fourteen miles from the nearest house - no mud, no frost, photographed before it was touched. Trace thallium sulfate found in the dish matched residue that would later link two unexplained deaths to a single poison; how did a domestic dish end up exposing a secret that had been buried for years?
In this episode, we trace the discovery and chain of events from a logged piece of probable litter to the lab result that reopened two deaths, following the people, places, and records that connected a riverbank casserole to an inheritance and a confession. What did the lab find in the grooves of the dish that forced two graves open?

Location: Sable Fork riverbank, eastern bank
- The casserole dish was found at 4:55 a.m. on December 11, 2019 on a sandstone shelf above the waterline with no mud or frost.
- Deputy Scott Varga logged the dish the same morning and tagged it as "probable littering"; it remained unnumbered in evidence for six weeks.
- Erin Mueller, age 48, died in December 2019; her hospital address was under a mile from the Mueller cropland boundary and 400 yards from where the dish was found.
- Trace thallium sulfate was identified in the dish's interior grouting on December 28, consistent with repeated contact with a substance cooked, heated, or stored in the dish.
- Dennis Mueller, age 51, died in February 2017 with cause recorded as cardiac arrest and was buried without an autopsy; his share of the estate passed to Erin and Steven Ward before Erin's death.
