    Two kids get shunned from Garden City Pier for out-fishing the old-timers. Twenty years later, one of them wins a King Mackerel tournament with his pants around his ankles and earns a nickname that follows him for the next decade. 🎣

    This week the Captain's Report bus is packed with pier fishing legends, tournament veterans, and Capt. Robbie of the Long Run Fishing Team and they take it all the way back. Back to Jackson rigs tied to pier railings, all-night whiting sessions with no limits, a one-rod workaround they invented at age 9 to get around pier rules, and a brag board that took down their pictures because management didn't want kids showing up the old salts.

    Then the tournament stories start: an 18-year-old who beat 1,028 boats in the Arthur Smith King Mackerel Tournament, took the prize money, sold the mobile home, and grabbed a porcelain cat as his trophy. A head boat entered in a King tournament, competing against 12-foot center consoles.
