概要
A birthday cake with 63 unlit candles sat on the counter while Crystal Sullivan lay dead for at least 14 hours - the detail Detective Eric Vickers wrote on an index card and kept for four years. Three more elderly women would be found strangled in June, each in homes with doors noted months earlier by a home health aide; what connects the notes to the killings?
In this episode, we lay out the sequence of events, the repeated details in case files, and the observations Vickers recorded as the pattern emerged, asking whether routine home-safety notes hold the key to understanding how the perpetrator entered these houses.
Person: Crystal Sullivan
Date: June 9, 2011
Location: Kellard
Cause: Manual strangulation
Investigator: Eric Vickers
- The cake on Crystal Sullivan’s counter had white frosting, blue gel letters spelling “Crystal,” and sixty-three unlit candles in plastic sleeves.
- Crystal Sullivan was dead for at least fourteen hours and found twelve feet from the entrance with the front door unlocked and no sign of forced entry.
- A home health aide, Susan Walsh, had written in Home Safety Notes that the side door off the kitchen had a worn latch.
- Beverly Marsh, age 61, was found strangled on June 14, 2012, with a back door open and a prior note that the back door latch “does not engage fully.”
- Lorraine Peck, age 59, was found on June 11, 2013, with a side laundry room door discovered unlocked and older hardware described (push-button knob lock from the 1970s).
