The episode provide a chilling biographical overview of Robert Hansen, the notorious Alaskan serial killer known as the "Butcher Baker." The episode details how Hansen’s troubled childhood and resentment toward women fueled a violent trajectory from arson and theft to the systematic abduction and murder of at least seventeen women. Utilizing his private plane, Hansen would fly his victims into the remote wilderness to hunt them for sport, a methodology that eventually inspired the film "The Frozen Ground." Despite being arrested multiple times throughout his life, he was repeatedly released until a brave survivor escaped and provided the testimony necessary for his 1984 conviction. The materials also highlight the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to identify his anonymous victims through modern DNA technology. Ultimately, the narrative serves as a grim record of Hansen’s pathological need for control and the lasting impact of his crimes on the state of Alaska.
