  • Talking About Your Needs & Collaborating with Neurotypicals - S01E22
    2026/02/04
In ep 22 of The Business Oddcast, we discuss the complexities of communicating needs and collaborating with neurotypical individuals within a business context. We deep dive on how you can get your needs met, and keeping lines of communication clear. We explore how we, the neurodivergent, often feel that advocating for ourself is like a "hostage negotiation," leading to overexplaining or apologizing for our existence. We try to move the needle from "please accommodate me" toward one of equity, helping others understand that “accommodations”, such as specific lighting or noise levels, are more than simple preferences but essential tools that make work possible and create a level playing field. The topic of boundaries and building two-way trust in professional relationships is unpicked and discuss how a "catch and release" policy prevents the self employed person becoming "financial hostages" to clients who ignore boundaries or demand constant availability. We trauma dump the lived experience of self-employment and highlight the benefits of self-employment for the neurodiverse. Please share with anyone you think this topic might resonate with. • The Anti-Boredom Blueprint: Staying Motivated with a Neurospicy Brain - S01E21
    2026/01/28
The Anti-Boredom Blueprint: Staying Motivated With a Spicy Brain Motivation isn’t a habit for us, it’s a flaky situationship. We adore it when it shows up, panic when it disappears, and shouting “just start” at ourselves has never made it come back. In this episode, we unpack why neurodivergent boredom isn’t “a bit dull” it’s an emergency shutdown. We talk activation vs willpower, PDA-style resistance, dopamine detours (including the week-long saga of paying an invoice), and why unfinished tasks can literally fuel insomnia. We explore what actually helps: time pressure (with caution), riding hyperfocus without letting it wreck you, changing your environment, “fresh eyes,” and outsourcing anything that makes your brain slam the steel shutters down. Expect tangents about stationery, notebooks, and why sometimes the first step is… having a wee. If you’ve ever stared at a task like it’s written in another language, this is your blueprint to work with your brain, not against it. Please share with anyone you think this topic might resonate with. • Thriving Without a 5-Year Plan: Short-Term Wins, Long-Term Awesome - Business Oddcast S01E19
    2026/01/14

Five-year plans sound great in theory… but what if your brain simply refuses to cooperate?

In this episode of The Business Oddcast, we explore what planning actually looks like for neurodivergent business owners. From variable energy levels and dopamine-driven decision making to PDA, perfectionism, and the pressure to “stick to the plan,” they unpack why rigid long-term planning can be more harmful than helpful.

We talk honestly about energy budgets, 90-day sprints, pivoting without shame, squirrel moments, hyperfocus, and why rest is preparation, not a reward. Expect practical insights, lived experience, a healthy dismantling of hustle culture, and reassurance that you’re not failing just because your business doesn’t fit a neurotypical template.

If traditional planning makes you feel boxed in, burnt out, or broken — this one’s for you.

  • Miracle Morning, Neurospicy Edition: Spoiler - There's No 5am Yoga - Business Oddcast S01E18
    2026/01/07
Morning routines are meant to set you up for success… so why do they feel so impossible when you’re neurodivergent? In this episode of the Business Oddcast, we tear apart the idea of the “perfect morning” and rebuild it in a way that actually works for neurospicy brains. Inspired (loosely) by The Miracle Morning, this is not a book review — it’s a reality check. From trauma mornings and insomnia hangovers to dopamine hunting, PDA reactions, hyperfocus black holes, and why affirmations can turn into cheese-based chaos, we explore what mornings really look like when you don’t wake up as the same person every day. We talk systems vs willpower, buffer days, energy tracking, anchor habits, prepping the night before, and why kindness beats perfection every single time. If traditional routines make you feel broken, this episode is your permission slip to do mornings your way. Please share with anyone you think this topic might resonate with. • New Year's Resolutions & Goal Setting 2026
    2025/12/31

Welcome to this New Year edition of The Business Oddcast! This week we’re pulling apart the whole “New Year, New You” circus and asking what resolutions actually look like when you’re neurodivergent.

We talk perfectionism, shame spirals, forgotten vitamin tubs, and why “consistency” is often just a neurotypical fantasy.

We dig into energy budgets, dopamine-fuelled overcommitting, and the difference between the version of you who signs up for everything… and the version who actually has to do it. We explore minimum viable progress, anti-resolutions (what you’ll stop doing), and why prioritising rest isn’t laziness – it’s survival.

If traditional goal-setting has ever left you burnt out, bored, or hiding in the car for a nap, this episode is your permission slip to design a year that works with your brain, not against it.

  • The 12 Neurodiverse Traits of Christmas Special 2025 - Business Oddcast S01E16
    2025/12/24
In words of social commentator, philosopher and glam rockstar Noddy Holder "IIIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttttttttttts CHRISSSSSSSTMASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!" Welcome to Episode 16 of the Business Oddcast! This week is a big seasonal bumper edition and we’re diving headfirst into the sensory overload, social pressure, and chaotic brilliance that is Christmas when you’re neurodivergent. From overwhelm disguised as “festive spirit” to food droughts, coat-goblin strategies, and the annual terror of Secret Santa, we’re breaking down the 12 traits that make this season feel… a lot. Stuart shares his elite spreadsheet engineering (including kitchen re-wiring for roast logistics), tactical party-napping, and why he’s entering his “Christmas turtle” era. Hannah confesses her hard limits around catch-ups, communal peanuts, and being manhandled onto a dancefloor by Anne from Accounts (justice for Hannah). Together, we explore routines dissolving into chaos, pressure to “see everyone,” gifting spirals, and why boundaries matter more than ever in December. Expect honesty, hilarity, and a whole sleigh-load of neurodiverse coping strategies. If the holidays leave your brain crying in a corner wearing noise-cancelling headphones, this one’s for you. • Reunions: Life’s Unwelcome Performance Review - Business Oddcast S01E15
    2025/12/17

Welcome to Episode 15 of The Business Oddcast! This week we dive into reunions — the good, the bad, and the painfully awkward.

We unpack why reunions can feel like an unwelcome, unpaid performance reviews for your life: “Are you married? Happy? Winning?”. We talk intentional vs. accidental reunions, school-specific trauma, bullying, masking, sensory overwhelm, and the aftershock of rumination. Stuart shares the story of finally facing a school reunion (and levelling up his armour), while Hannah admits she’s heroically dodged every official invite, but has had a few healing run-ins in supermarket aisles.

Expect tangents (obviously), tips on pacing, boundaries, alcohol (or not), and planning a recovery day. Also featuring: the “staircase wit” problem, Facebook unfriending weirdness, tequila-Stu lore, and a teaser for our Christmas special. Come for the catharsis, stay for the honesty (and the chaos).
