  • The Last Word - Barnsley 1-1 Bolton Wanderers
    2025/08/16

It's that time again, and a chance to reflect on the afternoon's football with The Last Word.

It was another day of drama at Oakwell. An even first half, a soft goal to concede, a red card and then a late fightback with chances aplenty in stoppage time to win the game outright.

Marc Iles talks you through the story of the game with extra analysis from Wanderers fans Henry Hewitt and Russ Pollitt.

And then we get some specialist views, with Steven Schumacher and Max Conway putting their views forward from the post-match press conference.

A point for Wanderers but how pleased should we be? Listen on...

  • The First Word - Barnsley v Bolton Wanderers
    2025/08/15

Bolton Wanderers are on their way to familiar foes Barnsley, and we have got the very latest from the Wanderers camp to fill the trip to Oakwell.

Sit back and listen to Steven Schumacher talking about last season's disappointment, the rebuilding plan, how he wasn't too disheartened by the midweek defeat against Sheffield Wednesday and why set pieces are still very important to him.

George Johnston also gives his view on the game, his new role in the squad, and why two wins out of two don't necessarily paint the whole picture for today's opposition.

We also speak to Doug O'Kane from the Barnsley Chronicle about Connor Hourihane's quiet revolution in South Yorkshire and why John McAtee hasn't quite translated across the Pennines (yet).

  • The Buff presents: What's the sound of one man podcasting?
    2025/08/15

Welcome back to The Buff Podcast - and this week it's an episode with a difference.

With Henry Hewitt on fully paid paternity leave (don't tell Roy Keane) and Russ Pollitt doing a secret business deal in London, Marc had to get creative as he brings another hour-plus of Bolton Wanderers headlines and chat.

So, in no particular order, we brought in some expert help to cover the topics that matter - welcome Alex Miller from the Sheffield Star, Doug O'Kane from the Barnsley Chronicle, Ethan Erhahon from the midfield engine room, head coach of the BWFC Women's team Myles Smith and Derek Clark, outside the men's lavvies in the West Stand.

We also dabble with AI, answer your emails on wingers and the letter 'U' and we make some predictions about what will happen in Bolton's next two games.

    Co-host? We don't need no stinking co-host...

PS - Hurry back Russ and H2, somebody called me 'Baldy' the other day on Twitter and it was really scary.
