  • See vs. Know: Five Seconds. Epi 10 - Observation
    2026/09/15

In this episode Bryan explores how quick judgments based on limited observations can misrepresent reality, emphasizing the importance of understanding context and progress in both fitness and life.

As I drive by, I often find myself analyzing a jogger’s form, their gear, and their pace. It's fascinating how quickly we form opinions based on a mere five seconds of observation. I ask myself: What do I really know about them?

What if today is their first day of running, or their hundredth? We have no way of knowing. This fleeting glimpse doesn’t tell us their story, their struggles, or their victories.

It's easy to overlook the journey behind each individual. Maybe that person has lost significant weight or is overcoming an illness. Each stride could be a monumental achievement for them, even if it looks unremarkable to us.

Without knowing where somebody started, it's really hard to judge how far they've come.

Ultimately, we must remember that our understanding of others is limited. We see only a fraction of their journey, and it’s essential to approach each situation with empathy and openness.

As we continue to navigate our own paths, let’s be mindful of the invisible struggles and triumphs of those around us.

Reflect on your own experiences and how far you’ve come. And when you next see a runner on the street, consider the story behind that five seconds.

  • Be Ready - The Boss May Come Today. Epi 8 - Observation
    2026/09/01

Bryan shares an inspiring story of resilience and readiness, emphasizing that even when nothing seems to be happening, significant events are unfolding.

The story of Ernest Shackleton and his remarkable Antarctic expedition Bryan saw on a random post; “On This Day - August 30”.

He was inspired to dig deeper into Shackleton's story because he drew his own parallel seeing that Shackleton’s story was not just a tale of survival but a profound lesson on the importance of being prepared when life throws us into the unknown.

Shackleton's ship, aptly named the Endurance, met its fate trapped and crushed by ice in Antarctica. A total of 28 men survived but found themselves on Elephant Island, cut off from the world and without any means of communication. The harsh reality? They were stranded, uncertain if help would ever arrive.

Drawing parallels between historical survival stories and spiritual teachings, Bryan encourages listeners to stay prepared and live actively while waiting for the ‘Boss’ may come back today.

A must listen, to see how the story ends.

  • The Cowboy or The Horse - To Blame Something is Easy. Responsibility Isn't. Epi 6 - Observation
    2026/08/18

Welcome to a journey into the cowboy way of life, where the bond between a cowboy and his horse holds deeper meanings than just work. In this episode of The Bryan Kennedy Show, Bryan reflects on his own experiences and the life lessons learned from riding and writing.

Bryan opens with a heartfelt confession: he’s always wanted to be a cowboy. With admiration for the lifestyle and its philosophy, he shares stories that reveal the often-overlooked relationship between cowboys and their horses.

"It's funny that when something goes wrong, it's so easy to blame your horse. But when things go right, the cowboy takes all the credit."

Through his anecdotes, Bryan illustrates how this dynamic plays out not just in rodeos, but in everyday life.

Bryan recalls his own missteps in the rodeo arena, where distractions led to missed opportunities. Instead of blaming his horse, he recognizes that the responsibility lies with him. This sentiment resonates broadly:

He emphasizes the importance of self-reflection and accountability, encouraging listeners to examine their own actions before shifting blame.

The episode takes a poignant turn as Bryan highlights the people and circumstances that often go unacknowledged in our successes. Just as a cowboy relies on his horse, we all have our own "horses"—the support systems and opportunities that help us thrive:

"We forget the people that opened the door for us, the ones who made it possible for us to get where we are."

Bryan invites listeners to celebrate these unsung heroes and recognize their contributions.

As he wraps up, Bryan poses a profound question: when something wonderful happens, why don’t we ask, "Why did you let that happen?"

He encourages a mindset shift, suggesting that acknowledging the divine or serendipitous moments in our lives is just as important as questioning the hardships.

"When something goes wrong, we ask 'God, why did you let this happen?' But when something great happens, we just take the ride."

This reflection serves as a reminder to appreciate the good and to thank those who support us, including our own metaphorical horses.
