- Thomas O'Connor found the upright, laced boot and called the sheriff at approximately 7:00 AM on February 10, 2012.
- Christine's truck was found at the Bench Stand with keys in the console, wallet in the glovebox, and phone on the passenger seat showing 17 missed calls.
- Christine's daypack was on the ladder hook inside the Bench Stand containing a headlamp, extra insulating layers, an emergency bivy sack, and a full water bottle.
- Wind chill reached -14°F at the Millard weather station by 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, after wind began around 2:30 PM.
- Bloodhound Bess tracked approximately 200 yards northeast from the Bench Stand then stopped and would not cross a 60-foot-wide blowdown of twelve lodgepole pines; shepherd mix Cord gave no alert across the same line.
