This week, Bryan and Shakeel are diving headfirst into Scott Derrickson's supernatural horror hit, The Black Phone (2021), starring Ethan Hawke as the terrifying "Grabber" and Mason Thames as Finney.
Does this Blumhouse film hold up on a rewatch, or does digital filmmaking take away from its 1970s horror aesthetic? The guys clash over Ethan Hawke’s villainous performance, the use of practical masks vs. CGI, child acting, and whether this story works better as a supernatural horror or a classic thriller.
