Who decides what bitcoin is? What happens when a minority of the network decides to fork bitcoin and move to a new chain? Bitcoin has been through many hard forks, most notably during the Blocksize Wars in 2017. In this episode of the We Are Satoshi podcast I spoke with Jeremy, Host of the Bitcoin Cash podcast.

Jeremy makes the case that BTC abandoned the very thing Bitcoin was meant to be. Although Jeremy and I disagree on what bitcoin is and what adoption actually looks like, we found common ground on a number of topics and had a fruitful discussion.

Topics covered:

• Why Jeremy argues BTC became a “Potemkin village” version of Bitcoin • How the one-megabyte block limit changed the future of the network

• Why he thinks Lightning and other L2s don’t solve the core tradeoff

• How social consensus, not just miners or nodes, determines protocol direction

• Why BCH's merchant adoption and circular economies matter more than hype If you want a deep look at the BTC vs BCH split, and the ideas still shaping Bitcoin politics today, this one goes straight to the heart of it.
