このコンテンツについて
Imagine being the first Bengali girl born in Italy.
How would you deal with the differences in culture?
What kind of norms would you find yourself in?
Blending and blurring the boundaries of Eastern and Western cultures, this is the exact position Urmi found herself. Born in Southern Italy, Urmi has spent much her life living two lives.
On the one hand, she grew up and went to school developed under the libreal Western ways, while on the other, lived at home under the stricter gender roles of the Bengali way.
This week, Urmi guides us through her journey of what it was like growing up, and how she developed her passion and dedication to help women around the world break free of the gender roles subject to them at birth.
No longer should women be forced into marriages from a young age, or grow up simply to serve their household. Urmi is dedicated to in so many beautiful ways to her message that no matter who you are or where you live; Your life is your own. You always have a choice.
Talking with Urmi about her experiences and her worldview was such a lovely experience and I loved every second. Urmi (a name which literally means 'wave') has so much passion and drive to help set the world and its people free, and you'll love what she has to say.
A really nice, chill chat, and I'm honoured I got to spend my time with you! As always, be sure to let me know what you think and join in the conversation in the comments. Don't forget to sub and share!
