The night after Luna escaped the flooded well room, she returns to the Pine Hills Municipal Archive to examine the scratched-out photograph from the 1964 police report. Under the green banker's lamp, she works with solvent and a magnifying glass, slowly revealing a face—and a name—that should not exist. As the archive settles into silence, a rhythmic knocking begins from the annex. Luna traces the sound to a filing cabinet she swore was empty. Inside, a new folder waits, numbered in the same hand as the intake form from the farmhouse. The knocking does not stop when she opens it. It comes from inside the folder itself, from something written on paper that should be inert. This episode pulls Luna deeper into the architecture that connects forgotten places—the well room, the annex, and a road that appears on no map.
