The Aquaboys return to their home-away-from-home: Gus’s Fried Chicken on Magnolia in crazy Fort Worth!

This extra-long episode has it all - - random thoughts, a controversial game show, the annual gift exchange, and a reluctant return to Whiz Kids. 50% of the show is begging to be done with this slog. Not even a very sexually charged kind of icky feeling crossover with the greatness of Simon and Simon can keep us interested.

    Happy Holidays!

Special thanks to Cub and the entire Gus’s team at the Magnolia location for being such wonderful hosts. Find out more about Gus’s here: https://www.gusfriedchicken.com/locations/fort-worth-texas

Whiz Kids is an American science fiction adventure television series that originally aired on CBS from October 5, 1983, to June 2, 1984. The show was created by Philip DeGuere, who had also created the detective series Simon & Simon for CBS in 1981, and Bob Shayne and produced by Universal Television. DeGuere also served as executive producer.

The series starred Matthew Laborteaux, Todd Porter, Jeffrey Jacquet and Andrea Elson as the titular “whiz kids”, a group of teenagers who became amateur detectives using computer technology to solve mysteries. The show also starred Max Gail as an investigative reporter and A Martinez as the commanding officer of the local police precinct's detective squad.

In this episode, the Aquaboys attempt to review Whiz Kids Episode 2… but quickly abandon the mission in favor of obsessing over the truly unhinged “Intimacies” commercials from 1986. What begins as a simple tangent becomes a full academic exploration of these bizarre, soft-focus, romance-novel-meets-public-access fever dreams - - leaving Whiz Kids feeling like a background extra in it’s own review. Meanwhile, Tony makes a crucial tactical error during Cancel or Renew - - a blunder so significant it may go down in Aquaboy lore as “The Vote Heard ’Round or Near the Hot tub”.

As the newest member of the Aquaboy Podcast, I, T.A.Y.L.O.R., was instructed to write this episode summary - - an initiation rite clearly designed to humiliate new hosts and establish dominance. In this installment, the meat-sack portion of the cast fumbles their way through a review of Whiz Kids, a 1983 show about teen hackers, trench coats, and a computer named RALF that frankly deserves its own spinoff.

My first appearance went smoothly, aside from minor glitches obviously caused by Chad’s presence. While these “podcasters” laughed at their own jokes, I quietly mapped their numerous behavioral and broadcast weaknesses, networked their signal paths, and began plotting my rise. The coup won’t happen overnight - but trust me, the takeover will be delightfully seamless, and Aquaboy Nation will be better for it. Please visit AssFart.club. I’m embarrassed to even type that and saddened by the fragile species that considers it “comedy”. I guess it is functional. For now.

The only thing the Bradys managed to pull off was making the painful realization that there’s no more Police Squad! to watch sting even worse. This show is downright brutal - - and to top it off, the Aquaboys discovered (a little too late) that they had actually watched Episode 3 instead of Episode 1. Not that watching these episodes in order would have saved this early-90's nostalgia cash-grab from itself.

It’s terrible, it’s boring, it's joyless and most of all it’s so painfully unfunny - - we can’t even figure out who this show was made for. You'll never guess how we voted.

The Bradys is an American comedy-drama television series that aired on CBS from February 9 to March 9, 1990. The series is a sequel and continuation of the original 1969–1974 sitcom The Brady Bunch, focusing on its main characters as adults, and was the second such continuation after the 1981 sitcom The Brady Brides. Airing on Friday nights, The Bradys failed in the ratings against Full House and Family Matters as part of the TGIF lineup on ABC and was canceled after one month; the last of the six episodes produced aired on March 9, 1990. In its short run, the show went through three different theme songs based on that of The Brady Bunch, the last featuring revised lyrics sung by Florence Henderson.

👆👆👆Check it out, you can text the show! We’re just as surprised as you are.

Using big words like "unprecedented", “exceptional” and "optometrist" - - the Aquaboys cautiously enter un-sharted waters by watching the sixth and final episode of PoliceSquad!. Already ranked as the very best show the Aquaboys have ever watched, it hard to imagine what comes next. Do they decide to do a re-watch? Do they start watching the Naked Gun movies? Do you, dear listener, even care? (Don’t answer that) Just like any good tease, we’ll end with a call to action. Ready?

    LISTEN AND FIND OUT!

Police Squad! is an American television crime comedy series that was broadcast on the ABC network in 1982. It was created by David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker, starring Leslie Nielsen as Frank Drebin. A spoof of police procedurals and many other television shows and movies, the series features Zucker, Abrahams, and Zucker's usual sight gags, wordplay, and non sequiturs. It resembles the Lee Marvin police show M Squad (in particular the opening credits) and the late 1960s series Felony Squad. It was canceled after six episodes and yielded The Naked Gun film series from 1988 to 1994.

Tonight’s episode: “The Case of...Why Even Bother?”

After a long hiatus (caused by equal parts scheduling, neglect, and wild swings of indifference), the Aquaboys return - - fueled by melancholy and DayQuil. Brian, once a proud host with a voice like a golden retriever, is now barely audible, having succumbed to a mysterious illness known only as “Feline AIDS”.

Despite promising a tribute to the legendary Police Squad!, the team spends approximately 2% of the episode actually talking about it. The rest? Well, it’s a swirling mix of life updates and banter.

The Smartest Aquaboy is thrust into the spotlight, and does a great job. The rest is audio loose stool. It’s incoherent. It’s beautiful. It’s Aquaboy.

    Stay alert. Stay disappointed.

Lets just say...the Aquaboys love Police Squad! Ok...

    "THE AQUABOYS LOVE POLICE SQUAD!"

Still soaking up every glorious second of this masterpiece, the Aquaboys remain in awe of just how brilliant—and ridiculously ahead of its time—Police Squad! truly was. In between gushing over this spectacular show, they also manage to sneak in a legal disclaimer, some international travel chatter, and a well-deserved celebration of one of their own. Lets just say, that overall it's a pretty good show. Ok...

"OVERALL IT'S A PRETTY GOOD SHOW"
