Did the ancient Celts have tattoos? Or has this part of their history been erased from the historical narrative?

In this episode of The Alchemy of Tattooing Podcast, we examine the evidence surrounding Celtic tattooing, challenging the long-held belief that the Celts only painted their bodies with woad.

Drawing on nearly four decades of tattoo practice, comparative Indigenous traditions, archaeology, ancient historical accounts, linguistics, genetics, and oral knowledge, we explore the origins of the Celtic peoples, the impact of colonisation and Christianisation on Indigenous European traditions, and why tattooing may have been a central part of Celtic spiritual and cultural life.

The discussion explores the Tuatha Dé Danann, the Picts, Druids, ancient stone symbols, warrior traditions, sacred geometry, and the role of tattooing as far more than body decoration. It considers tattooing as a technology of identity, ceremony, resonance, and connection with the natural world.

Whether you’re passionate about Celtic history, archaeology, Indigenous European traditions, ancient spirituality, tattoo history, the Picts, Druids, or ancestral culture, this episode offers a fresh perspective that invites curiosity, thoughtful discussion, and a deeper exploration of Europe’s forgotten tattoo traditions.

Were the Picts truly the primitive barbarians history portrays them to be, or does the evidence point toward something far more sophisticated?

In this episode we explore the possibility that the Picts were an advanced civilisation whose knowledge was expressed through symbol, stone, craftsmanship, tattooing, astronomy, and sacred relationship with the land. Together we examine erased histories, indigenous Scottish traditions, ancient technologies, and the enduring mysteries that continue to emerge from beneath the surface of Scotland’s past.

In this episode, we explore the body as a resonant field — a living interface where intention, geometry, biology, and consciousness converge. Sacred tattooing is revealed not as decoration, but as a form of frequency technology, capable of imprinting coherent patterns into the nervous system, biofield, and deeper layers of memory.

You’ll journey through how vibration, placement, and ceremony interact with the body’s energetic pathways, emotional field, and morphic memory, stabilising new frequencies of alignment over time. From there, the field expands outward into the planetary grid, exploring ley lines, sacred sites, and the living electromagnetic lattice of the Earth.

This transmission connects personal embodiment with planetary resonance, revealing how intentional marks, when created in coherence, contribute to collective healing and remembrance.

You are not separate from the field.

You are an instrument within it.
