概要

Alborán Sessions is the podcast of Alborán Social Club — an independent publication about padel and the life that has grown up around it. Each episode, Alex sits down with the people building the sport's culture and its business: founders and federations, coaches and club-owners, the players changing how the game is watched and the characters changing how it is sold. The conversations are unhurried and on the record. We are interested in how things actually work — who counts the players, who pays for the courts, what a boom does to a quiet game — and in the people willing to say so plainly.

We record where the sport is happening: a summit floor in Barcelona, a club terrace on the coast, a tournament between matches. No press releases read aloud, nothing traded for access. Just a long table, a good guest, and the time to follow the thread.

New episodes monthly. If you play, watch, build, or simply sit on the terrace afterwards, pull up a chair.

  • Alboran Social Club Podcast Episode 5 - From County Badminton To Covering The UK Padel Boom
    2026/10/31

The interviewer finally gets put in the hot seat, and it turns into a surprisingly useful blueprint for anyone obsessed with padel and the stories around it. We talk about the path from county-level badminton to working inside a padel club, and how that hands-on exposure can fast-track your learning once the glass and cage stop feeling like a personal insult. Along the way, we unpack why the UK padel boom still feels like “the start,” and what that means for players, clubs, and creators trying to keep up.

We also get specific about sports media. We share what changes when you go from long-form podcast interviews to live commentary and reactive social media, and why “just talking” is never the whole job. Research habits, planning, editing, and improvisation all show up, plus the confidence required to publish when the internet is ready to judge you. If you’re building a padel podcast, trying to grow padel content, or aiming for commentary work, you’ll hear the real skills that translate across formats.

Then we zoom out to padel culture: why we care about everyday clubs as much as Premier Padel P1 events, what we learned from spaces like the World Padel Summit, and the uncomfortable question hovering over rapid growth. When big money enters, do community-first padel clubs get protected or squeezed out? We don’t pretend to have every answer, but we lay out what we’re watching and what stories we want to chase next, including the long-term goal of interviewing top Spanish-speaking players in Spanish.

If you like smart padel conversation with zero fluff, subscribe, share this with a padel friend, and leave a review so more players can find us. What part of padel culture should we cover next?

  • Alboran Social Club Podcast Episode 4 - Padel Drive
    2026/10/05

From aerospace engineering to 5 million views a month. 🎙️

In Episode 4 of the Alboran Social Club Podcast, @Outby3 (Alex Robinson) sits down with Gonzalo, better known as Padel Drive, to talk about the journey behind one of the biggest English-speaking padel content channels in the world.

Gonzalo takes us back to growing up in Madrid, moving to the UK to pursue a career in aerospace engineering and discovering a passion for padel coaching, before eventually making the huge decision to leave his engineering career behind and pursue Padel Drive full time.

We also discuss the incredible global reach of Padel Drive, what it’s like creating content watched millions of times every month, working with some of the biggest names in padel, and the relationship between Gonzalo and Tomas behind the scenes.

The conversation also gets into the more difficult side of building an audience, including racist comments, online criticism and the reaction to his appearance with Everything Padel.

Plus, we look at the wider state of padel in the UK, the cost of playing, junior development and why Gonzalo believes that, without significant change, the UK may struggle to produce a truly world-class professional player.

A conversation about padel, content creation, coaching, taking risks and turning a passion into a career.

Subscribe to Alboran Social Club for more conversations from across the world of padel.

We recorded this from the inaugural Premier Padel P1 event in london in August.

We tried to cover as much as we could and on this podcast we actually took a different approach and had Andy be interviewed by Alex.

We talk all things about the event which was filmed just off the side courts in the venue.

Did we guess the winners right, listen now to find out.
