Kim Roxie is a visionary entrepreneur, esthetician, and the trailblazing founder of LAMIK Beauty, a clean color cosmetics brand dedicated to healthy, inclusive, and sustainable makeup.
Roxie began her journey in the beauty industry as a college student at Clark Atlanta University, where she worked at a makeup counter. At 21, she was opening her own Makeup shop in the mall in her hometown of Houston, TX.
This week, we discuss what it really takes to build a product-based business for the market to make it to the shelves in major department stores.
In this episode, Kim shares:
→ How rejection redirected her into entrepreneurship
→ Why her mother’s cancer diagnosis inspired her to create cleaner beauty products
→ How she connected with a retired Estée Lauder chemist who wanted to help “right some wrongs”
→ What founders need to know about retail readiness, packaging, and compliance
→ The truth about raising capital, pitch competitions, and venture funding
→ How LAMIK Beauty is expanding through Nordstrom and community impact
Her philosophy is simple: “Beauty is revealed, not applied.”
This is more than a makeup conversation. It is a lesson in rejection, resilience, and building the solution you once needed.
