    2025/08/04

What are the odds of getting hit while riding a bicycle?

How do those odds change for a second incident?

    Should Tim stop riding?

Listen in as Amy and Tim discuss the latest "adventure" while getting some exercise. Perhaps a change in venue is warranted.

Thank you for making "That's Not What Mom Said" a top father-daughter podcast (According to Feedspot who ranks the top 60 podcasts.)

  • 143. Make Your Bed!
    2025/07/28

Amy and Tim discuss the importance of accomplishments in our lives to help motivate us. The old adage, "How do you eat an elephant?" really applies when it comes to tackling large projects or goals.

What is your go to movie quote or line?

When do you make your bed?

Oh, the response to how do you eat an elephant?

    "One bite at a time!"

  • 142. Take Care of Your Things and They Will Take Care of You
    2025/07/21

In another of our "Tim Talks - Dad Blabs, " Amy and Tim discuss a shared pet peeve - "where's my (insert item here)!?!?!?"

It's never a great start to a project when you have to spend time tracking down the tools or materials you need that are not where you left them. You'd think there would be no problems living in a household of only two people - but you would be wrong!

Also, it usually better to buy quality and have it last, then to save a few bucks and need to replace all too soon.

    How's your garage organized?

  • 141. 30 vs 60 - and What is Success?
    2025/07/14

Amy and Tim discuss what being successful means.

As Amy is now 30 has she missed the window of opportunity for success? Is there any opportunity for Tim, now 60, to salvage success from what time he has left?

Remember, "Comparison is the Thief of Joy."

This is a re-edit, rehash, rerun of episode 30 from February 2023 as part of our "Summer Re-Run" series.

(I'd like to say we've been too busy to record every week, but that might not be exactly true as we enjoy the summer weather!)

As always, thank you for listening!

  • 140. Is it ever OK to lie?
    2025/07/07

Amy and Tim delve into the first "Dad Blab" and discuss lying.

The question is if it is ever alright to lie?

A person can always justify lying, but what each person needs to ask themself, is "why am I lying?"

Am I making things easier for "them" or myself?

It is said that the truth will set you free - and when you tell the truth you do not have to remember all the lies told.

Mom "photo bombs" the episode and who doesn't like fresh hot popcorn?

  • 139. Too Much Screen Time?
    2025/06/29

Are we wasting too much time staring at screen while the world moves on around us? With so much of our consumption coming from screens of different sizes, are we allowing our brains to atrophy? Amy and Tim reflect on how things have changed in their lifetimes (with one of us having a lot more history!)

As usual, Tim and Amy's conversation wanders from the initial topic, and as usual, eventually makes it way back just in time to wrap things up!

What has been the biggest change seen over the years?

From how we communicate to how we get our information, the one constant is rapid change.

  • 138. The Bike Ride and Work Dads!
    2025/06/23

It is that time of year once again when you get hear about Tim's upcoming ride to Castle Danger Brewing (as if he hasn't talked enough about this already!)

Then Amy and Time discuss the concept of "Work Dads."

Who wouldn't benefit from having someone at the workplace to give you a good swift kick in the rear end to motivate you?

There's work wives and husbands, it only make sense—probably even more sense. Afterall who hasn't got into a tiff with their spouse? That might not be very good for the workplace.

  • 137. Vacations and Anxiety!
    2025/06/17

In another attempt at a remote recording (St. Paul Brewing we will be back!!!) Amy and Tim discuss their current vacation - is Tim really allowed to call it a vacation?

13 people, three dogs and of course Roger the Cat under one roof - what could possible go wrong. And find out how "Fire Stick" doesn't mean what one might think it means.

This certainly is not "roughing it" like when we went camping (E3 The Trials and Tribulations of Camping).
