Please message us! We’ll pin to the episode, and would love a dialogue.

    Good afternoon!

I was very happy with August, got some great feedback on both content published and future ideas. Please keep that coming, follow on FB / Spotify / Apple Podcasts / iHeartRadio and continue listening!

I've got several more episodes recorded with both types of content (me yakking and interviews).

Thank you for listening and sharing with friends, and stay cool!

  • Parenting for LEOs
    2025/08/26

Please message us! We’ll pin to the episode, and would love a dialogue.

I've found that people LOVE parenting advice. Kid crying in a restaurant next to you? Tell mom how to do better. Child not sharing? Offer that dad an education.

Kidding of course. Every home, parent, child and environment are different. Much like the Leadership episode, a blanket parenting style will not work for all kids. If it did, we would all just do the same thing and everyone would be awesome.

In today's episode, and the last real episode of August, I will spend 17 minutes tackling the enhanced difficulties that come with parenting as a Law Enforcement Officer (LEO). If you take away something from this episode, please share with me via the send me mail link or the Facebook page!

    Enjoy,

  • Interview with Career Homicide Prosecutor Christy Barker
    2025/08/22

Please message us! We’ll pin to the episode, and would love a dialogue.

In today's episode, I will pick the brain of Christy Barker. Christy is a 31-year veteran of homicide prosecutions. Over those ~372 months, she picked up a thing or two and shares LOTS of information today that will benefit investigators and prosecutors alike.

Christy also has her own podcast if you're more interested in the "true crime" genre. She conducts a deep dive into murder cases she has prosecuted and conducts interview with the investigators involved (including prior LEO Guy guest Rob). Hers is much more polished than mine, so if you need polish, go there. She will provide the details of how to find it.

I hope you enjoy hearing about that LEO lifestyle from the perspective of a prosecutor. The meat and potatoes of this episode is the prosecutor / LEO relationship prior to arrest. The next episode with Christy will cover...you guessed it...POST arrest.

Enjoy, and have a great Friday and weekend!

  • Down with the Thickness
    2025/08/12

Please message us! We’ll pin to the episode, and would love a dialogue.

Now that my title grabbed your attention, allow me to expose the lack of coolness of this episode. Today I will be discussing having thick skin.

We all have to set boundaries for various reasons. Today I discuss how you can draw those lines in the sand to avoid being bullied but also avoid crying about little things that don't matter. Today's episode will provide you with help making decisions on when and how to react to the troubles that can come from both co-workers and the streets.

    Have a wonderful Tuesday!

  • Interview with Career SWAT Operator JABO!
    2025/08/08

Please message us! We’ll pin to the episode, and would love a dialogue.

When civilians face unmanageable emergency situations, they call 911.

When police face the same, they call Jabo!

The new FBI Director, Kash Patel, recently referred to Memphis Tennessee as the "homicide capital of America." Jason "JABO" Long spent 25 years policing that beautiful town, including 17 years as a full time SWAT operator. If you can think of a high-speed, low-drag police job (such as bomb tech), Jabo did it and did it successfully.

He currently teaches for and helps run Guild Solutions Group, a tactical training organization. Find them easily online or on IG and see who they are, what they're about and if they could help you and your agency.

Jabo (pronounced Jay-Bo) and I will discuss SWAT theory and practice.

Enjoy! And thank you to Jabo for his years of service and taking the time to come on the show.

Please message us! We’ll pin to the episode, and would love a dialogue.

This episode will guide you through the wide world of police gear! You'd be surprised at the little things that matter, and the more you can learn from these 18 minutes, the less time you will spend peeling from a sunburn or staring into the dark because your ONE flashlight with no spare battery died. Let's figure out what gear you need together, so that you're not...left in the dark.

  • July Recap
    2025/07/31

Please message us! We’ll pin to the episode, and would love a dialogue.

    Good afternoon!

This will be the last episode for the month of July. I'm comfortable with LEO stuff - totally uncomfortable with podcasting / technology. Hopefully you are all taking something away from these episodes. Feedback has been fantastic, and we've rounded 1,000 downloads (as of July 12!). I didn't expect this kind of support this quickly, and I really appreciate it. Please continue sharing to new and prospective law enforcement so that they can learn from my successes and mistakes.

Have a wonderful day, and see you in August!

  • Homicide Investigations Interview: Part 3
    2025/07/31

Please message us! We’ll pin to the episode, and would love a dialogue.

In the final interview for the month of July, Rob & Al will delve into the life of a new homicide investigator. What to expect, how to manage the stresses and changes to your life, and a general overview of how a homicide investigation begins.

These gentlemen will also discuss the relationship between investigators and prosecutors, and how it differs between jurisdictions.

Largely these interviews will reveal one thing: The depth of thinking and importance of individual decisions throughout an investigation. Please pay attention to the amount of consideration put into the details!

Super professional ending, as always. I never claimed to be a tech-spert. Please let me know what else you'd like to hear from these guys, and we can definitely explore more topics.

    Until next time!
