The most significant game this month was the FA Cup final vs Manchester City which resulted in more Wembley pain for the blues. In the League Chelsea missed out on qualifying for any European football as a dismal season came to an end.     Nick is joined by Tom Coley (@tomcoley49) to look back at all things Chelsea in March what was a miserable month for the blues. Simply put Chelsea are getting worse. In the Premier League there were three losses in four, with each defeat worse than the last & our Champions League qualification hopes only remain in tact due to the inaptitude of other clubs . In the Champions League Chelsea were humbled by PSG 8-2 on aggregate in the round of 16 & we try unpack it. Was this the low point of the Clearlake era? Discontent on the pitch has led to discontent off the pitch as tension between fans & the hierarchy are at an all time high. There was a meeting between a fan group & a director that got heated & there is protest planned before the Manchester United game in April. We look back & ahead to that as well giving our feelings about the state of Chelsea & what it has become. Finally we look ahead to April & ponder Rosenior’s position. On New Year’s Day Enzo Maresca parted company with the club & we reflect on his time at the club as well as what his departure says about the higher ups running the club. After Callum McFarlane oversaw a draw at Manchester City & loss at Fulham, the Liam Rosenior era started with a 5-1 win away at Charlton in the FA Cup. We assess the start Rosenior has made to life at Chelsea. With a top 8 place in the UCL league phase secured & three league wins in a row there’s been positive progress made by Rosenior & we highlight the performances of players who have impressed, been ok & also struggled. We wrap up by looking ahead to what February has in store. With a defecit to overturn in the league cup semi final second leg at Arsenal, a 4th round FA Cup tie at Hull City as well as three league games vs Wolves, Leeds & Burnley which will be vital in the race for Champions League football there’s no denying February is another huge month in the blues season. With one win in six premier league games there’s no denying this was a disastrous month for Chelsea with a big fluctuation in performance from game to game & even half to half . Old problems also re-emerged with conceding goals from set pieces & long throws. We try to work out once again what this Chelsea are. Enzo Maresca after the 2-0 Everton win said he’d had the “worst 48 hours” since arriving at the club, with these comments on top of comments made in the summer about wanting a centre back & stuttering form we ask is this the beginning of the end of Maresca? With defeat at Atalanta in the champions league we assess what Chelsea need for a top 8 finish. We reflect on who impressed, who has been ok & who has struggled in December before wrapping up by looking ahead to January.
