    Democrats are now in a shrinking blue bubble. Most Democrats I encounter have never had sustained social contact with working class or Republican voters. They tend to denigrate Republican voters as being in a cult, stupid, gullible, racist or all of the above.

    This does two things. It implicates the Democrat’s superiority, and it makes Republican voters undeserving of empathy or curiosity — they’re just the enemy. When they’re assassinated, no big deal. When they garner more votes than Democrats, there’s no lesson about how to appeal to more voters, it’s a harbinger of the End Times.
