Critical red tide advisory for Galveston County, late-summer water temps, and early fall redfish transitions across the entire Texas coast for the week of September 14–20, 2026.🚨 COASTAL ADVISORY (GALVESTON COUNTY):NOAA and TPWD have confirmed moderate-to-high red tide (Karenia brevis) cellular concentrations along Galveston Island and Bolivar Peninsula beachfronts and outer jetties. Onshore winds are pushing aerosolized toxins toward the shoreline, creating respiratory irritation and patchy fish kills. Avoid affected surf and jetty zones, do not harvest distressed fish, and consider pivoting inland to West Bay marshes or running south to Matagorda.📊 REGIONAL BREAKDOWNS:• Water Temps: Upper Coast (84°F–86°F), Mid-Coast (85°F–87°F), Lower Coast (86°F–88°F).• Upper Coast: East Bay shell and deep wells producing trout on live croaker; West Bay marsh drains holding slot reds on weedless gold spoons.• Mid-Coast: Dawn topwater trout bite over San Antonio Bay grass; crystal-clear sight-casting for tailing redfish in Copano and Matagorda back bays.• Lower Coast: Deep Baffin rock trout on subsurface twitches; exceptional shallow-water sight-casting across Lower Laguna Madre sand flats.
