Called Out of Darkness: Your Testimony Has a Purpose

Scripture: 1 Peter 2:9–10 (KJV)

Why did God save you? Have you ever wondered what your purpose is or why the Lord has left you here in this world?

In this message from 1 Peter 2:9–10, we discover that salvation is about more than escaping darkness. God calls us out of darkness and into His marvelous light so that our lives can proclaim His goodness to a world that desperately needs Jesus.

The Bible describes believers as a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a peculiar people. These aren't just titles to make us feel special. They reveal our identity in Christ and the purpose for which we have been saved.

In this episode, we explore three important truths about the believer's testimony:

• We are a peculiar people. We belong to Christ and have been set apart for His purposes.

• We are a proclaiming people. God calls us to declare His goodness through our words, our actions, and the way we live.

• We are a people with a past and a present. We have been brought out of darkness and given new life in Jesus Christ.

Your testimony doesn't have to look like anyone else's. Whether God saved you as a child, brought you out of a destructive past, or met you in a season when everything seemed to be going right on the outside but something was missing within, your story can point someone to Jesus.

The challenge is to stop hiding our light inside the church and carry the truth of the gospel into our homes, workplaces, schools, and communities. We cannot save anyone through our own ability or effort. That is God's work. But we can faithfully tell others what He has done and reflect the light of Christ through our lives.

Your occupation does not determine the significance of your testimony. Your circumstances do not have the final word. And your past does not have to define your future. In Christ, God can transform your life into a testimony of His grace.

The question is simple: Are you showing forth the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light?

Join us as we consider our identity, our calling, and the joy that comes from making much of Jesus.
