The role of a lifetime: a director who first wrote a spoof on an iconic Shakespeare play and it is the key to the opening of the 99th season at Schenectady Civic Playhouse in the Stockade in Schenectady.

Director Laura Darling immersed herself in this year's opening production and Molly Waters will grace the stage as Lady Macbeth as the company makes this visually dramatic production safe for all audiences. There is thought, effort and talent to behold at Schenectady Civic Playhouse.

The pair stopped by the podcast studio to talk about the 400+-year-old work and provided a look not only at how the opportunity came about for both women, but their unique vision to this production.

Schenectady Civic Playhouse opens its 99th season with Macbeth and it was only fitting that these two accomplished individuals had the opportunity to Tell Me Their Story.

No stranger to the Daily Gazette podcast studio, Kayla Ek returns and talks about super scary things going on near Schenectady City Hall and Jay Street as the Nightmare Market returns for its third installment.

The event, a figment of her imagination at one time, has now consumed her in the greatest ways, with more than 100 vendors and spectacular performers wowing young, old, believers and non-believers Saturday, Oct. 17, from 5 to 9 p.m.

The two are familiar with each other, as Kalya holds the title of most appearances on the show for a single event. That leads to conversations about Downtown Schenectady, its Jay Street staying power, and even perfume.

Stan is a renaissance man, as you may have heard.

It's spooky, it's creepy, and absolutely wonderful. Enjoy my conversation with Kayla Ek.

Sue Berry was named CEO of the Animal Protective Foundation earlier this month and has more than two decades of experience in protecting those who provide love, support, and a lot of wet noses for the most part to their humans.

She got her start as a prospective adopter in New Hampshire, traveled to California and then down to Florida before finding this new opportunity in the Capital Region.

I caught up with her during the moving process from Florida to the Capital Region via Zoom and discussed her start, her career, and differences in animal shelters across the nation.

She was insightful, full of knowledge, and knows that her work may never be over.
