  • Avi Kwa Ame National Monument - Nevada

    You may have heard of Avi Kwa Ame. Back in November 2022, President Biden committed to designating Avi Kwa Ame as a national monument and this designation is being made official as I record this introduction in March of 2023.

    This week, I spoke with Craig Bakerjian, the Avi Kwa Ame campaign manager at the Nevada Conservation League and Kim Garrison Means, a Searchlight, Nevada local, artist and the co-director of the Searchlight Mystery Ranch (an art and science research station).

  • Whitebark Pine - Western North America

    The whitebark pine of western North America is a critical keystone species. But in December 2022, the US Fish & Wildlife Service listed it as Threatened after concluding that it’s likely to become Endangered throughout its range.
