  • Not So GOOD GOOD...it was BAD BAD

The BMW Championship is in the books, and on this episode of Tales From The Tips, DA sits down with guest Chris Fortney to dig into the golf, the pressure, and everything that happens between the ears when a tournament gets tight.

The conversation starts with Wyndham Clark’s impressive performance and the mental side of competing at the highest level. How do professional golfers reset after a bad shot? How quickly can one mistake turn into a five-minute spiral? And most importantly, does Wyndham Clark belong in the PGA Tour Player of the Year conversation? DA and Chris aren't exactly afraid to stir the pot.

Then there's Rory McIlroy, who appears to be finding his game at exactly the right time. With the Tour Championship at East Lake looming, the guys look ahead to the final event of the season, make their predictions, and dig up a few dark-horse picks that could make things very interesting.

But the golf world doesn't stop there. DA and Chris discuss Gary Woodland and the Presidents Cup, where the PGA Tour Championship could be headed in the future, and what the conclusion of the LIV Golf season might mean for professional golf moving forward.

And then things take a turn.

A controversial Good Good and Callaway Golf commercial sparks a conversation about golf marketing, the changing culture of the game, and where the line should be drawn when trying to grab attention. Because apparently, golf can now produce more controversy in a commercial than some tournaments produce on Sunday.

Finally, the conversation gets a little more personal as DA reflects on upcoming events and the emotional reality of sending a child off to college—a reminder that no matter how much we talk about birdies, bogeys, rankings and championships, some of life's biggest moments happen far away from the 18th green.

Wyndham Clark. Rory McIlroy. Player of the Year. The Presidents Cup. LIV Golf. Good Good. Callaway. East Lake. Mental resets. Dark horses. And a little fatherly reality check.

That's a lot of ground to cover—but that's just another day on Tales From The Tips.

  • Can You Stand the Playoff Heat?
    2026/08/14

Football is coming, summer is winding down, and apparently nobody told professional golfers that heat is supposed to be fun when you’re sitting by a pool—not carrying a golf bag for four hours.

On this episode of Tales From The Tips, DA is joined by James Porcello for a wide-ranging conversation that jumps from the restaurant business and the World Cup to PGA Tour pressure, extreme heat, playoff debates, the US Amateur and building the perfect Presidents Cup team.

The guys break down Michael Brennan’s impressive PGA Tour victory, what it takes to close out a tournament when the pressure is at its highest, and why winning professional golf tournaments is a whole lot harder than it looks from the couch. They also dig into the brutal conditions at the Memphis tournament, where scorching temperatures tested the players, caddies and anyone foolish enough to stand outside voluntarily.

DA and James tackle Rory McIlroy’s evolving thoughts on the PGA Tour playoffs, the responsibilities that come with being a professional athlete, and the growing debate over player availability—and whether fans should have to wonder if the stars they paid to see will actually show up.

The conversation then heads deeper into the golf world with a look at the current rankings, playoff picture and players fighting to stay on the right side of the cut line. There’s also plenty of firsthand perspective on playing golf in extreme heat, because apparently sweating through your shirt before the first tee is now considered part of the strategy.

The guys also react to some surprising early exits at the US Amateur Championship and discuss one of the things that makes golf different from so many other sports: sportsmanship, integrity and doing the right thing when nobody is forcing you to.

And finally, it’s Presidents Cup time—or at least time to start arguing about who belongs on the team. DA and James debate the ultimate question: Do you build a competitive Presidents Cup team around veteran experience, young firepower, or some combination of both?

From golf rankings and PGA Tour pressure to playoff politics, extreme heat, fan expectations, the US Amateur and Presidents Cup strategy, this episode has a little bit of everything.

Tales From The Tips — where the takes are hot, the golf gets hotter, and sometimes the weather has more attitude than the players.

  • DA Gets Convicted, A New Winner on the PGA Tour & Remembering Jarrod Lyle
    2026/08/06

Who's the next breakout star on Tour? Which underdog is about to cash a massive paycheck? And why does golf always have a way of rewarding—or exposing—character?

This week on Tales From The Tips, DA and 15-year Tour Caddy Mick Middlemo tee up one of their most entertaining conversations yet as they make bold rookie predictions, debate this week's biggest dark horse picks, and break down the strategies that separate contenders from pretenders.

The guys dive deep into player decision-making, course management, and the mental side of professional golf, while also tackling a few of the game's latest controversies. From questionable behavior to the importance of honesty and integrity, they discuss why your reputation on Tour can be just as valuable as your scorecard.

The episode also takes a heartfelt turn as Mick shares personal memories of his friend, the late Jarrod Lyle, reflecting on the Australian's incredible courage, kindness, and the lasting impact he left on the golf world. It's a touching reminder that some of golf's greatest legacies have nothing to do with trophies.

As always, expect plenty of laughs, behind-the-scenes Tour stories, friendly debates, and the kind of caddie insight you won't hear anywhere else.
