Take 2 Theology is a twice-weekly podcast hosted by Michael Mott and Zachary Hale, elders at Charleston Bible Church. Each episode explores Scripture, theology, and Christian living through thoughtful conversations, interviews, and the occasional friendly debate. Whether we’re walking through a book of the Bible, tackling a tough doctrinal topic, or drafting our favorite children’s Bible songs March Madness-style, our aim is the same: to think deeply about God’s truth and invite others to do the same.Michael Mott and Zach Hale キリスト教 スピリチュアリティ 聖職・福音主義

  • Conversational Apologetics | Avoiding Conversational Pitfalls
    2026/08/18

    Season 2, Episode 135

In this episode, Michael and Zach continue their series on conversational apologetics by examining several common ways good arguments can be undermined by poor communication. Drawing from Gregory Koukl’s Tactics, they discuss the “Steamroller,” the “Rhodes Scholar,” and the importance of getting the facts right. The conversation explores why overwhelming someone with information is rarely persuasive, why credentials do not automatically settle an argument, and why Christians should be prepared to challenge unsupported factual claims without becoming combative. Along the way, Michael and Zach return to Koukl’s ambassador model, emphasizing that wise apologetics is relational: listen carefully, make one point at a time, ask good questions, and keep the focus on helping people think rather than trying to impress or overpower them.

  • Galatians | No Other Gospel
    2026/08/13

    Season 2, Episode 134

In this episode, Michael and Zach begin a new series through Paul’s letter to the Galatians by examining its opening verses and the controversy that prompted the letter. After introducing Paul, the Galatian churches, the possible date of the letter, and its relationship to the Jerusalem Council, they turn to Galatians 1:1–10, where Paul wastes no time confronting a distorted gospel. The discussion explores Paul’s apostolic authority, the theological significance of his greeting of “grace and peace,” the absence of his usual thanksgiving, and the seriousness of his warning that even an angel preaching a different gospel should be rejected. Along the way, Michael and Zach distinguish between voluntary religious practices and requirements for salvation, consider why not every theological error constitutes “another gospel,” and address common objections concerning Paul, the Law, and the exclusivity of Christianity. The episode centers on a basic but essential question: What actually makes the gospel the gospel?

  • Conversational Apologetics | Following Ideas to Their Conclusion
    2026/08/11

    Season 2, Episode 133

In this episode, Michael and Zach continue their series on conversational apologetics by exploring two more tools from Gregory Koukl’s Tactics: Sibling Rivalry and Taking the Roof Off. Both tactics help expose weaknesses in a worldview, but they do so in different ways. Sibling Rivalry highlights tensions between beliefs a person holds at the same time, while Taking the Roof Off follows an idea to its logical conclusion and asks whether that worldview can actually support the values its adherents want to preserve. Through examples involving morality, human dignity, abortion, justice, evolution, and love, Michael and Zach show how gracious questions can reveal inconsistencies without turning the conversation into a confrontation. The episode also connects these tactics to Romans 1–2, arguing that people often live according to moral truths their stated worldview cannot fully explain. The goal is not to embarrass or trap people, but to help them think more carefully and to point beyond unstable ideas toward the truth of Christ.
