A little later this week but we're back with Alien Earth Episode 6 "The Fly". A new creature feeds and a much more familiar creature finally gets it's victim in this excellent episode. We discuss it all in spoiler filled detail on our latest podcast.

Alien Earth Episode 6 "The Fly" Details

Based on Characters created by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett and H.R. Geiger.

Episode Written by Showrunner Noah Hawley and Lisa Long

    Episode Directed by Ugla Hauksdóttir

Spoiler filled synopsis: As the Xenomorph grows, Wendy continues to communicate with it all the time perfecting her technique. Elsewhere in the facility another hybrid, Nibs, undergoes testing, prompting Atom Eins to demand her memory wiped and her stimulation to be reduced, so she is ready to smile at product launch.

Arthur Sylvia refuses as it goes against all the principles of the hybrid programme but his wife Dame Sylvia decides to accept and Arthur is fired under threat of execution if he is not gone from Neverland by the end of the day.

Meanwhile, Boy Kavalier travels with Kirsch and Atom Ens, to meet with Yutani and negotiates with her over the crash of the USCSS Maginot and alien cargo ownership. Boy Kavalier secures billions in damages but is also able to delay the return of the alien specimens due to agreed global quarantine protocol.

Back at Neverland, Kirsch remotely asks Tootles to look after the laboratory and a mishap in the lab locks Tootles inside the cage of one of the five alien species, the fly, and is killed when they spit acid on his face.

When Nibs awakes after her mind wipe, Wendy learns she was reprogrammed and confronts Dame Sylvia and reveals she’s beginning to empathise with the Xenomorph alien and question everything around her, including Dame Sylvia.

Under the influence of Morrow, Slightly tries to take Joe to one of the alien eggs, but he is able to avoid this fate when he’s reassigned to the security detail.

Before leaving, Arthur disables Wendy’s tracker and gives Joe a boat code to help them escape. But when he notices that Tootles’ tracker and camera have gone off, Arthur goes to the lab to investigate.

He enlists Slightly’s help to find the missing hybrid and Slightly takes his opportunity and betrays Arthur, locking him with a facehugger that successfully latches on to his face. All the while Kirsh watches silently on his tablet without informing Boy Kavalier.

Back in the lab, Slightly hides the body and himself inside the air vent as chaos brews in the lab and the T Ocellus watches on.

The Sandman 206 "Family Blood" Spoilers

    Episode teleplay by Jim Campolongo

    Episode directed by Jamie Childs

Synopsis: In a flashback to 1794, Dream approaches Lady Johanna Constantine with a task to retrieve Orpheus' living head from France and bring it back to a temple in Greece where it would be safeguarded by priests. Hunted down by Maximilien Robespierre and his men, Constantine succeeds with the help of Orpheus himself, whose song incites the end to Robespierre's tyranny. After returning Orpheus' head to his temple, Constantine asks Dream for a chance to visit Orpheus. In the present, Dream and Delirium pass her grave near Orpheus' temple. There, Dream reunites with Orpheus and he discloses the location of Destruction. Dream and Delirium approach Destruction who welcomes them gleefully.

The three discuss Destruction's departure from his duties and his wards which caused the deaths of Wanda, Ishtar and others. He alludes that mortals are capable of great destruction on their own, without the need of him being complicit. Despite Delirium's plea, Destruction bids them farewell, imparts some advice to Dream and gives Barnabas to Delirium to keep her company. With that, he disappears into the sky. Dream and Orpheus reconcile and upon Orpheus' request, Dream kills him, later mourning him in tears. Elsewhere, the Kindly Ones condemn Dream for spilling family blood.

Derek and John are back watching Alien Earth Episode 5 "In Space, No One...". Noah Hawley delivers his version of an Alien movie in an excellent Noah Hawley way. We discuss it all in spoiler filled detail on our latest podcast.Alien Earth Episode 5 "In Space, No One..." DetailsBased on Characters created by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett and H.R. Geiger.Episode Written and Directed by Showrunner Noah HawleySpoiler filled synopsis: In space, the USCSS Maginot is seventeen days from Earth. Junior security officer Clem wakes Morrow from cryosleep and tells him there has been a fire in one of the containment rooms. In the commotion two facehuggers have escaped and latched upon the ship's captain Dinsdale and science officer Bronski. A failed attempt by medical officer Rahim, to remove the facehugger from Captain Dinsdale's face has led to his death from the facehugger's acidic blood. After being told by engineer Shmuel that the ship's navigational systems were also damaged in the fire, Morrow concludes that a crew member is either incompetent or has sabotaged the ship. Executive officer Zaveri assumes command of the ship, but Morrow threatens to relieve her if she does not prioritize the creatures above the crew. With a facehugger still attached, Bronski is placed in cryo-sleep to prevent the gestation of the Xenomorph, but this fails as the creature continues to grow inside him. In science officer Chibuzo's lab, one leech specimen manages to open its test tube from the inside, and lays its larvae in her water bottle. Witnessing this, the Ocellus also escapes after Chibuzo fails to seal its containment vessel. Meanwhile, after being called to an emergency meeting in the mess, apprentice engineer Malachite drinks the water, and the larvae cause him to cough up blood In the medbay, Malachite along with Chibuzo and Rahim are killed by the leeches' defensive toxic gas and the Maginot’s quarantine procedures when trying to extract the leeches from Malachite. Witnessing this, Zavari is in shock and Morrow relieves her of command. After being interrogated by Morrow, creepy navigation officer Teng is killed by the fully-grown Xenomorph. Elsewhere onboard, Chief engineer Petrovich is revealed to be behind the sabotage of the Maginot at the order of Boy Kavalier, who promises him a hybrid body and more wealth than he can imagine if the ship crashes in Prodigy territory. Petrovich kills Clem and is in turn killed by Morrow, who retreats to the control room and seals himself in. Zaveri is killed by the Xenomorph outside the control room door. With everyone dead, Morrow locks himself in the impact room and awaits the crash. 2025/08/29

John and Derek have a very uncomfortable time watching Alien Earth Episode 4 "Observation". From Doll's heads to phantom pregnancies and voyeuristic synthetics we're all a bit nervy. We discuss it all in spoiler filled detail.

Alien Earth Episode 4 "Observation" Details

Based on Characters created by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett and H.R. Geiger.

Episode Written by Showrunner Noah Hawley and Bobak Esfarjani

    Episode Directed by Ugla Hauksdóttir

Spoiler filled synopsis: Wendy wakes up with her hearing disabled, after she collapsed in the laboratory from the intense sound from the Alien embryo. Arthur adjusts her hearing so that she is able to hear the Xenomorph eggs without it being painful and Boy Kavalier asks Wendy to replicate the sounds and she is able to speak the language of the Xenomorphs in a frequency audible to humans.

Kirsh and Tootles test Trypanohyncha Ocellus (an octopus-like creature) on a sheep, and it implants itself in the sheep's brain. The parasitically-controlled sheep stands up on its hind legs, and focuses its attention on Kirsch who remarks that the creature is highly intelligent. Feeling left out Boy Kavalier insists the creature focuses on him!

Meanwhile Morrow continues to communicate with Slightly and pressures him into revealing his real name as a sign of trust. Morrow convinces Slightly to steal back the Xenomorph eggs, but after trying Slightly contacts Morrow and tells him that it isn't possible to steal the eggs because there is too much security. Morrow pressures Slightly, threatening the safety of his family, who he has tracked down using Slightly's real name. He then directs Slightly to find a human and take them to the eggs so they can be infected by a facehugger. It is revealed that Kirsh is listening to their conversations.

Elsewhere at the Neverland compound Nibs claims she is pregnant, and when Dame Sylvia tries to make her talk about the rescue mission, Nibs becomes violent and is eventually put under house arrest, unbeknownst to her.

Hermit, now up and about and in recovery after his lung transplant, has become jaded after seeing how Wendy is treated more as an experimental prototype than a person. He attempts to quit Prodigy and leave his position, only for Atom Eins to tell him that if he did, he would be sent a large bill for his new lung and never see Wendy again.

Later that night, Wendy observes the Xenomorph-infected lung. As she speaks in the clicks and chirps of the Alien language the Xenomorph suddenly bursts out from Hermit’s old lung. As Wendy appears to placate the young Xenomorph seemingly comfortable to watch and touch the Xenomorph, Kirsh watches on.

Boy Kavalier orders the specimens be brought to Neverland Island for study, despite objections from Kirsh and Dame Sylvia.

The Sandman 205 "The Song of Orpheus" Spoilers

    Episode teleplay by

    Episode directed by Jamie Childs

Synopsis: Remorseful about Wanda's death, Dream attends her funeral where Death persuades him to make amends with Delirium. Dream enters Delirium's realm and eventually reconnects with her. Resuming their quest to locate Destruction, they seek advice from Destiny. He tells Dream that only his son, an oracle of Endless blood, can help them. In a flashback to Greece, 1700 BC, the Endless attend the wedding of Orpheus, son of Dream and Calliope. That night, however, Orpheus' wife Eurydice dies from a snake bite. Orpheus begs Dream to help him retrieve Eurydice from the Underworld, but he refuses. With Destruction's help, Orpheus then approaches Death and she reluctantly makes him immortal, allowing him to travel to the Underworld. Once there, Orpheus persuades Hades and Persephone to revive Eurydice, but then fails the test of faith presented to him, leaving Eurydice to stay dead. Against the caution of Calliope, the desperate Orpheus lets himself be torn apart by Maenads, murderous worshippers of Dionysus. He, however, cannot die and begs Dream to kill him, to no avail. In the present, with the words of Destiny that “those who seek Destruction usually find it” a distraught Dream and Delirium depart to find the family oracle Orpheus.

Episode Written by Showrunner Noah Hawley

    Episode Directed by Dana Gonzales

Spoiler filled synopsis: The head of Prodigy corporation, Boy Kavalier, tells his colleague, Dame Sylvia, that he formed the Hybrid project to compete with artificial intelligence, and has granted Wendy additional abilities as he wishes to create a person smarter than him.

He declines Weyland-Yutani's request to secure the Maginot's proprietary contents, warning any incursion on his territory will be considered a hostile act.

Meanwhile, at the crash site, Hermit is chased by a Xenomorph and separated from his colleagues.

It tracks him to the higher floors of the tower, killing another soldier and massacring an apartment of wealthy residents who refused to evacuate.

He is saved by Morrow, who tasers the Xenomorph and then him. Morrow encases the alien in a membrane and leaves to escape the Prodigy controlled area, but the Xenomorph regains consciousness and escapes after killing numerous other soldiers. Mysteriously it spares Morrow as it leaves.

Arriving in Prodigy City, Hybrids Tootles, Smee, Nibs, and Curly encounter two other dangerous extraterrestrial specimens. A hanging pod that looks like flora but which Kirsch believes to be Fauna, and Octi-eyeball, an eyeball with tentacles. Meanwhile, Wendy locates her brother with Slightly, a fellow Hybrid, but he doesn't recognise her.

Slightly reveals her true identity to a shocked Hermit who was told his sister had died. Hermit realises it's his sister Marcy after Wendy recounts very specific memories from their childhood.

The three encounter several Xenomorph eggs and are ordered by Kirsh to contain them until a HazMat team arrives. But they are tracked by a Xenomorph who falls through a hole in the ship with Hermit. Wendy chases after the two, as Slightly stays behind to “guard the omelette”.
