On this edition of The Research Report from Augusta University, Assistant History Professor Melissa DeVelvis discusses her new book Gendering Secession: White Women and Politics in South Carolina, 1859–1861. Examining diaries and letters, Dr. DeVelvis looks at how Palmetto State women responded to the state's secession from the United States, which occurred on December 20, 1860.
