On this edition of Public Affairs, Jonny Hartwell talks with Dr. Margaret “Peg” Rosenzweig from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and UPMC Magee-Womens Cancer Center, along with breast cancer survivor Julie Senchak.
Dr. Rosenzweig brings the medical and research perspective, discussing advances in breast cancer care, treatment equity, and the challenges facing women living with metastatic breast cancer.
Julie’s cancer journey began when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999. Twenty years later, Julie faced her own diagnosis and treatment. She shares what that experience taught her about the importance of routine cancer screenings, asking for help, and allowing family and friends to support you along the way.
We’ll also talk about the work of the American Cancer Society and the upcoming Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Greater Pittsburgh event, bringing together survivors, thrivers, caregivers, families and supporters.I
t’s a conversation about research, early detection, support, survivorship — and how Pittsburgh can come together to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.
