    The excitement is palpable, and Patsie shared her nerves and pride as she watches the Saints playPatsie opens up about the journey that brought them to this tournament, with the goal of introducing their children to Canadian hockey life, noting that they never anticipated reaching the semi-finals.

    The experience has not only been about the games but also about the cultural exchange and the warm hospitality they’ve received from the Canadian community.Patsie notes the difference in ice time availability, highlighting the challenges of playing hockey back home in Ireland compared to the ample opportunities in Canada.

    Tantallon, NS - As the ice glistens and the puck drops, the excitement of the SEDMHA hockey tournament fills the air. We had the pleasure of speaking with Deirdre Robinson, a dedicated parent of two players in this year's tournament; Callum of the U15 team, and Josh of the U13 squad.

    Traveling all the way from Kilkenny, Ireland, Deirdre’s family feels the journey is worth every moment, as she describes the two fantastic ice rinks in one building at the St. Margaret’s Centre and the overwhelming sense of community and hospitality they encountered upon arrival. “The welcome has been unbelievable,” she said, reflecting on the kindness shown by the local families and the support they received.

    The tournament has been a whirlwind of emotions for Deirdre and the other parents, especially as their Irish Saints teams have experienced success on and off the ice. Deirdre mentions that despite the competitive nature of the games, the real victory lies in the camaraderie and growth of the players.
