The meeting is over.
Everyone nodded.
No major objections.
The decision is made.
And then, minutes later, the real conversation starts… next to the coffee machine.
Suddenly, people have opinions. The deadline is unrealistic. The decision doesn’t make sense. Someone finally says: “I didn’t want to say anything in there, but…”
Why do intelligent, experienced people stay silent in the meeting — and become remarkably articulate the moment they leave the room?
In this episode of The Leader’s Conscious Communication Podcast, I explore the conversation after the meeting: why silence is so easily mistaken for agreement, how hierarchy and a leader’s reactions can unintentionally push disagreement underground, and why some people simply need more time before they know what they really think.
You’ll also hear practical ways to invite disagreement before a decision is made, give quieter voices more space, and create meetings where telling the truth feels safer and more useful than saving it for the coffee machine.
Perhaps the most dangerous meeting isn’t the one where people argue.
It’s the one where nobody does anything.
And you may notice something new: from this episode onwards, I’m also featuring my face on the thumbnails for the solo episodes. These conversations come directly from me, so it felt right to make the visuals a little more personal, too. Same podcast, same conversations — now with a face to match the voice.
