TCU just pulled off a major recruiting coup, landing top-50 national recruit Kaylor Buse for the 2027 class — a dynamic point guard who chose the Horned Frogs over powerhouse programs like Oregon, Washington, and South Carolina. Buse, a state champion and all-state standout, was drawn to TCU by coach Mark Campbell’s genuine relationships, family vibe, and culture-first approach — qualities that made her feel like she’d be growing with teammates who feel like family. Her versatile game — scoring, passing, defending, rebounding — adds firepower to the backcourt, while her commitment signals TCU’s long-term vision and ability to compete for elite talent without relying on the transfer portal.

Malik Olajuwon, son of NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon, is poised to make his own mark on the court as a top-tier shooting guard entering his senior year at IMG Academy. With six elite schools—TCU, SMU, Texas Tech, Kansas State, Virginia Tech, and Minnesota—in the running, Malik’s decision looms large. A 6-foot-4 all-around talent who scores, rebounds, and playsmaker, he’s drawing serious attention from major conference programs. TCU’s inclusion on his final list signals strong interest, especially given his proximity to Fort Worth and his growing profile against top competition. With official visits already set for five of the six schools, TCU still has time to seal the deal—and could benefit immensely from adding this versatile prospect to their roster as they build continuity.

TCU’s basketball team is diving headfirst into a brutal Big 12 schedule in 2027, starting with a road game against Houston on January 2nd, followed by back-to-back home matchups against Arizona State and Texas Tech. The grind continues with trips to Cincinnati and Kansas State, then a showdown with Baylor at home. They’ll also face two-game road stretches, including a tough early February trip to Arizona and Arizona State. With only five returning players and ten new faces, Coach Jamie Dixon’s biggest challenge? Building chemistry fast. Last year’s sixth-place finish and NCAA Tournament run set the stage for another postseason push — but can this new-look squad handle the stacked Big 12, where eight teams made the tournament last year? The Big 12 Tournament kicks off March 9th in Kansas City.
