Syracuse’s top transfer guard, Garwey Dual, is sidelined at the start of the season due to a lingering collarbone injury, delaying his return to full contact — a major blow as he’s expected to be a cornerstone player. A four-year college journey that includes NCAA Tournament runs and standout stats (8+ PPG, 4+ APG), Dual brings elite defense and size (6’5”) that could disrupt opponents. Coach Gerry McNamara now faces the dual challenge of managing Dual’s recovery while reshaping the guard rotation. With exhibition games against UConn, Siena, and Niagara starting October 13th and the regular season opener on November 2nd, Syracuse’s window to integrate Dual is narrow — and crucial for their season’s success.

Syracuse’s bid for five-star point guard Nasir Anderson is hanging in the balance after his official visit was canceled—raising questions about whether they’re still in the running for the 2027 top recruit. Standing 6-foot-3 and packing 215 pounds, Anderson remains on Syracuse’s radar despite a crowded field of elite programs like Florida, Kentucky, and North Carolina vying for his commitment. With visits already scheduled across the country—including USC, Georgia, and Tennessee—and recent trips to Providence and Virginia, Anderson’s decision looms large as Syracuse watches closely amid a high-stakes recruiting race.

Syracuse basketball is on a hot recruiting streak, zeroing in on elite talent like four-star wing Ahmed Nur from CIA Bella Vista — the team that won last year’s high school national championship. The Orange already offered scholarships to three other CIA Bella Vista stars: Isaiah Clarke, Liam Mitakaro, and Settimo Yugu, signaling a major commitment to building around this powerhouse group. Nur, who recently took an official visit and left a strong impression, will play for Overtime Elite’s City Reapers next season. Syracuse isn’t stopping there — they’re also eyeing standout OTE prospects Tai Bell and Ka’Shawn Gill, both set to join top prep programs. With a national scouting net cast wide, Syracuse is clearly assembling a future championship contender.
