In this sixth message from the ROOTED series, we continue our journey by thinking about what it means to be ROOTED IN IDENTITY.
The way we understand who we are shapes the way we live. We can easily root our identity in our achievements, our appearance, our relationships, our failures or what other people think about us. But the gospel gives us somewhere deeper to put our roots.
In 1 Peter 2, we are described as a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and God's special possession. And in Romans 8, Paul reminds us that we are children of God.
Our identity isn't something we have to earn or prove. It is something we receive through Jesus Christ.
But there are many voices competing to tell us who we are. So this week we ask: Whose voice gets to tell us who we are?
Because the loudest voice isn't always the truest voice.
When our identity is rooted in Christ, we can stop striving to prove ourselves and begin living from the security of knowing: “I am His. I belong here. I am loved.”
📖 Key Text: 1 Peter 2:9–10; Romans 8:14–17 🌱 Theme: Discovering who we are in Christ 🎧 Takeaway: Our deepest identity isn't something we earn. In Jesus, we are chosen, loved, called and adopted as children of God.
