In this fifth message from the ROOTED series, we continue our journey by thinking about what it means to be ROOTED IN COMMUNITY.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been exploring what it means to grow a faith that lasts — a faith that can withstand the pressures, challenges and storms of life. We’ve thought about being rooted in Christ, in God’s Word, in prayer and in grace. This week, we take the next step: recognising that although our faith is deeply personal, it was never meant to be lived out alone.
In Acts 2, we see a picture of the early Church — a people devoted to teaching, fellowship, breaking bread and prayer. They weren't simply attending. They were belonging. Their shared devotion to Jesus shaped the way they lived alongside one another.
Christian community isn't simply about being in the same room on a Sunday. It's about sharing life together. It's about noticing when someone is struggling, praying for one another, encouraging one another, carrying one another when life is difficult, and celebrating together when life is good.
The writer of Hebrews 10 reminds us not to neglect meeting together, but to encourage one another. Because part of God's answer to our tendency to drift is the people He places around us.
And yet, community isn't about perfect people. Church can be messy. People can disappoint us. Relationships can be complicated. But God's answer to an imperfect people isn't isolation — it's a community shaped by grace.
So this week we ask ourselves a simple question: Am I simply attending, or am I truly belonging?
Because the Church isn't built through another person. We are the Church.
And when we are rooted in Jesus and rooted among His people, we don't have to walk through the storms of life alone.
📖 Key Text: Acts 2:42–47; Hebrews 10:23–25 🌱 Theme: Growing deeper in Christ by belonging to Christian community 🎧 Takeaway: Christian faith was never meant to be lived out in isolation.
