    Luke 24:

    King JamesVersion

    13 And, behold,two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was fromJerusalem about threescore furlongs.

    14 And theytalked together of all these things which had happened.

    15 And it cameto pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drewnear, and went with them.

    16 But theireyes were holden that they should not know him.

    17 And he saidunto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another,as ye walk, and are sad?

    18 And the oneof them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only astranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to passthere in these days?

    19 And he saidunto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth,which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:

    20 And how thechief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and havecrucified him.

    21 But wetrusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside allthis, to day is the third day since these things were done.

    22 Yea, andcertain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at thesepulchre;

    23 And whenthey found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision ofangels, which said that he was alive.

    24 And certainof them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as thewomen had said: but him they saw not.

    25 Then he saidunto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets havespoken:

    26 Ought notChrist to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?

    27 Andbeginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all thescriptures the things concerning himself.

    28 And theydrew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he wouldhave gone further.

    29 But theyconstrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the dayis far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.

    30 And it cameto pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake,and gave to them.

    31 And theireyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

    32 And theysaid one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with usby the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

    33 And theyrose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gatheredtogether, and them that were with them,

    34 Saying, TheLord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.

    35 And theytold what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breakingof bread.

    Luke 23:

    13 And Pilate,when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

    14 Said untothem, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and,behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this mantouching those things whereof ye accuse him:

    15 No, nor yetHerod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done untohim.

    16 I willtherefore chastise him, and release him.

    17 (For ofnecessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)

    18 And theycried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto usBarabbas:

    19 (Who for acertain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)

    20 Pilatetherefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.

    21 But theycried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.

    22 And he saidunto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause ofdeath in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.

    23 And theywere instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And thevoices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.

    24 And Pilategave sentence that it should be as they required.

    25 And hereleased unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whomthey had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

    26 And as theyled him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of thecountry, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

    27 And therefollowed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed andlamented him.

    28 But Jesusturning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep foryourselves, and for your children.

    29 For, behold,the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, andthe wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.

    30 Then shallthey begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.

    31 For if theydo these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?

    32 And therewere also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.

    33 And whenthey were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him,and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

    34 Then saidJesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they partedhis raiment, and cast lots.

    35 And thepeople stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, Hesaved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

    36 And thesoldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,

    37 And saying,If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

    38 And asuperscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, andHebrew, This Is The King Of The Jews.

    39 And one ofthe malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ,save thyself and us.

    40 But theother answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art inthe same condemnation?

    41 And weindeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hathdone nothing amiss.

    42 And he saidunto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

    43 And Jesussaid unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

    44 And it wasabout the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until theninth hour.

    45 And the sunwas darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.

    46 And whenJesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend myspirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

    47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.

    48 And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.

    28 And when hehad thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.

    29 And it cameto pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount calledthe mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

    30 Saying, Goye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shallfind a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither.

    31 And if anyman ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lordhath need of him.

    32 And theythat were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.

    33 And as theywere loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye thecolt?

    34 And theysaid, The Lord hath need of him.

    35 And theybrought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they setJesus thereon.

    36 And as hewent, they spread their clothes in the way.

    37 And when hewas come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the wholemultitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voicefor all the mighty works that they had seen;

    38 Saying,Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, andglory in the highest.

    39 And some ofthe Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thydisciples.

    40 And heanswered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace,the stones would immediately cry out.

    1 To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

    2 A time to beborn, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which isplanted;

    3 A time tokill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

    4 A time toweep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

    5 A time tocast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, anda time to refrain from embracing;

    6 A time toget, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

    7 A time torend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
