Believe it or not, we have made it to the ninth and final week of our Summer in the Psalms. And this Sunday, we get to look at one of the most profound Psalms in all the Bible: Psalm 57. Read by Sunnybrook member tony Lamb, Psalm 57 was written by David at a time in his life when it seemed like God had forgotten His plan for him. He went from palace to pit, from castle to cave, in a matter of moments. And what once felt like a very purpose-filled life suddenly felt very purposeless. Ever been there?
This Sunday, we’re going to study David’s response. How does a king handle a crisis? How does a man after God’s own heart respond when it feels like God’s heart is no longer for him? What does he do when it feels like the plan he thought God had for him has taken a major detour that he wasn’t on board with?
